I really liked working on this- The client asked for a dark early 90â˛s vintage cover with a creepy acid trip vibe for the text. My favorite part is the bright highlights, we decided that since the focus was simple we would use bold colors which I thought gave a real âgoosebumpsâ kinda vibe (initial concept below.) Those bright colors translated into highlights in the finished image.

Fallen One
Inspired by classics of the previous centuryâs action and horror movies, as well as the golden age of the video arcade, Inner Demon is the first installment of the Fallen One trilogy and follows ten-year-old Ilvan as he attempts to live his dream of learning to fight like his favorite protagonists. His excitement, however, will quickly be interrupted by a series of hardships that threaten to destroy the foundations of his family and home. Powerless to alter these unwanted course changes, he seeks the assistance of his new friends and fellow students in hopes of averting disaster.
Like. An exorcist âbetraysâ their own innocence in some way and is therefore punished by turning into a monster and living in agony until theyâre killed. Why would god do this as punishment? To inspire loyaly thru threat? Because it just makes other exorcists jobs harder.

Or maybe its meant to force someone into being an innocence user fight akuma for God, which would make sense, given sync has to be zero or below to become a FO. This would make sme who was rejecting exorcism and make them into a soldier against their will.
This would make sense and its almost more horrific because the FOs are effective âexorcistsâ. We see this in s3ep53 with Suman. He kills a fuckton of akuma that six exorcists were struggling to take down together. If FOs were somewhat controllable, I bet the Black Order may intentionally create them for their destructive potential. It would be in character for them, disregarding individuals in favor of the war⌠though the motives for that disregard makes sense in the context of DGM. Being too emotional and connected to other people can mean a higher likelihood of losing it when someone dies, meaning a higher chance of creating akuma (and dying themselves). Jesus.
My minds going to all the religious notes in DGM, and this justâŚreeks of a lack of free will. Exorcists are unable to choose to be exorcists. Innocence itself could be called a curse because of that. Either be hunted by akuma or hunt akuma. Or disobey Godâs will and become a fallen one. Itâs suffocating. We saw that with Lenalees origin storyâshe was taken by the order and drilled to become an exorcist even though she was literally a kid.
Im waiting for some mention of that and how fucked it is, or rather just some acknowledgment that this war isnât really one anyone signed up for entirely of their own free will.
Slightly off topic, that scene in Sumanâs episode? Where Allen is sucked into his body and. Just starts screaming? Good shit. Letâs the audience feel whats going on for a second before Allen starts thinking it through. Also when Allenâs arm cracks. Also when Allen meets Tykiâjust. All of it.
