more digital ink has been spilled than i could possibly ever read abt how badly gamzee was done wrong by homestuck. gamzee of homestuck canon has experienced character assassination on a scale previously unrecorded. as a result, he is one of those characters where canon and fanon have become almost completely divorced.
honestly if i did not find non-sgrub au gamzee so fascinating i might never have started traversing the lonely road of homestuck fanfiction scholarship. but unfortunately i remain obsessed with the juggalo clown lore and his position as a goofy and friendly seeming guy who carries an enormous capacity for violence and an extremely deep-seated rage. what a cool concept for a character!! i even like the sopor stuff despite the fact that most fanon handles it with somehow even less sensitivity than the comic itself.
thereās a lot of stuff abt gamzee, specifically the way heās racialized in the comic itself and the way canon and fanon treat addiction that tends to make gamzee discourse pretty rancid but i think he is a fascinating little guy who i want to take very very thin slices of and study under a microscope. and i also think heās never done anything wrong ever even the breast milk stuff.
