There is always DOs and DON'Ts with the fae, be cautious but be happy !

DON'T

🧚‍♀️ give your name, use a pseudonyme. They might use it against you.

🧚‍♀️ be disrespectful ( with human beings too, don't be mean guys ! )

🧚‍♀️ say thank you, they might think you owe them something and that ties a contract.

🧚‍♀️ step in a fairy circle, or folklore says you will dance to your death, or you will be tied to the fairy realm.

🧚‍♀️ accept gifts, again will tie you to the fairy realm.

🧚‍♀️ eat or drink what they provide, they will drag you in their world.

🧚‍♀️ portray them as good or bad, they might get offended, they have different points of view than us.

🧚‍♀️ put offerings for no reasons, they might get confused and frustrated, they may trick you after.

🧚‍♀️ blame them, if you think they did something ask politely or make a trade to have your thing or situation back.

DO

🧚‍♀️ leave consistant offerings if you work with one, it is always appreciated.

🧚‍♀️ meditate, use divination to communicate with them, but always protect.

🧚‍♀️ listen to the messages they want you to hear, it might be important if a fae comes to you.

🧚‍♀️ little altars for them if you are used to work with a specific one, but prefer not next to iton.

🧚‍♀️ honor them and nature with your daily actions, they will think you are a good human.

🧚‍♀️ research ! Research ! More and more.

🧚‍♀️ write your own discoveries, or make a faepedia, it is really handy.

Fairy doors : many people demonize it but if the fae invites itself too easily in your home, making one with a filter sigil will prevent bad entities from coming in AND will force the fae to go through the little door instead of random parts of your home. That way you know who is inside.

Should I work with the fae ? : I would recommand baby witches not to work with the fae ( I am not a baby witch antmore but sometimes I still struggle ) they are trickster, as a baby witch you may not have all the cards in your hands if something bad happens to you. Be cautious they are not sugar creatures only ! That being said, do what you want, that is your craft.

Honey and alcool : they are said to make the fae drunk BUT, like people, every fae is different. so get to know your fae before giving some, it is more cautious, plus it is not an obligation.

Hey anon!  Thanks for the question, and for your patience with the response <3  Don’t worry, this isn’t a silly question at all!

I’m going to start by saying that my own experience with this is incredibly based on my own personal beliefs and experiences, so after two tips I’m going to link to a few other resources for you, so that you can get a more traditional idea of how to accomplish this.

The two tips I’m sharing here that I’ve had personal experience with are:

To attract and sense frost fae:  Whistling with ice in your mouth can breathe life into them on warm days.  The scent of peppermint attracts them on cool days; the scent of cinnamon, honey, or wood smoke attracts them on freezing winter days when they are at their full strength.  They like chilled or frozen wine or berry juice.

To attract and sense storm fae:  Their presence can tingle and tastes like electricity.  They gather around metals and things that rattle (including leaves).  They enjoy windchimes, and they love windchimes that were made with unusual objects, because they can hold onto the edges and twist the chimes, rather than just sliding down the straight edge of a normal chime.  They don’t seem to mind iron, and are very bold; if they notice you seeing them and you willfully ignore them, they’ll want your attention back.  Overwhelmingly strong and sweet floral scents can repel them in place of iron.  These fae like liquors and anything carbonated.
