Story Summary:

Clea decides to destroy Verso, believing him too unpredictable to be left alone. Unfortunately for her, his chroma is tied to the very heart of the Canvas. So she neutralizes him the only way she can, separating his chroma, his spirit, from his body.

Now, forced to exist as a ghost in the Canvas, Verso watches over Maelle and tries to find a way to set things right. It gets worse before it gets better. How can he save his mother or help his sister, when he’s nothing but a fading echo of a man he can never be?

An excerpt from Chapter 10:

“We need some sort of tracker for you,” Gustave jokes. “Something we can use to find you if you fly off somewhere.”

“I’m not that bad,” he protests. “I made it back in time.”

“Not in time to help set up,” Alicia says with a smirk, gesturing to the almost complete preparations around them.

“It’s not my fault. That damn snake caught me. I had to fight my way out if I didn’t want to wait to be digested first. Then I needed to find a place to wash, because the inside of a serpent is disgusting and I didn’t want to come home covered in slime and whatever else is in that thing.”

Gustave and Alicia both roll their eyes at his dramatics.

“I think that just means you need to take me with you next time,” Gustave tells him. “So I can protect you from the big bad sky serpent.”

“Oh, did Verso get eaten again?” Sciel asks, coming over to drape herself against Verso and Gustave’s shoulders. Some of the citizens nearby give them strange looks at her words, but Verso ignores them in favor of glaring at Sciel.

“Don’t you have a husband and a girlfriend to go bother?” he says instead of a greeting.

Fast-paced desert punk action adventure game Fading Echo will launch for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on July 21, followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series later in 2026, publisher New Tales and development subsidiary Emeteria announced.
