Fada became an Initiate at the Temple of Corysecli when she was twelve, and later a Divine Soldier around twenty. She is was Gētnyx's cohort-sister (meaning they were Initiates at the same time and in typical circumstances would be stationed together; this is the most intimate relationship an Initiate or Divine Soldier can have and is surpassed in importance only by one's devotion to the Vessel/Corysecli/the Temple). As is typical for Initiates (and to a lesser extent actual Divine Soldiers) of the Temple, which is definitely not a cult, she experienced and witnessed a lot of abuse and followed a lot of sketchy orders (don't worry about it, there's only a normal amount of assassinations). Sometime after Gētnyx became the Vessel but before the formation of the current cohort of Initiates, when Fada was probably... let's say roughly in her mid 30s, she left the Temple, went into hiding, and published a very detailed and graphic tell-all memoir-slash-exposé on her experience in the Temple and its private business, basically airing out all their dirty laundry for the world to see. The book, Temple of Conquest, was quickly banned by the empire and is hard to find, but it still did significant damage to the Temple's public image and exposed a lot of secret imperial operations (and now everyone knows the Temple somewhat frequently acts as an imperial hit squad). It also went into really intimate detail of Fada's relationships, mostly with her cohort-siblings, for bonus betrayal points. She is currently still alive, but the Lieutenant of her former cohort is obsessed with finding and killing her (at this point, self-destructively so) and Gētnyx would be thrilled to have her head on a plate; her actions were both a political and very personal betrayal.
