Many apologies if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it: how strict is the not over 1000 words thing? like, if i'm 1016, for a Totally Random Example.
Thereās an Israeli Hebrew idiom: ākitbag questionā.
A kitbag is the sac recruits receive at intake. It looks something like this. Itās just about the most uncomfortable thing ever. Nowadays most folks will show up with a much, much better pack they either bought or received as a gift from their township and never use the kitbag until they need to return it at discharge, but once upon a time people had to actually use the miserable things.
Which is how - the story goes - it so happened that when a training sergeant told the recruits to run so-and-so many laps around the base, one of the recruits asked: āWith or without the kitbag?ā To which the sergeant replies: āWell, that didnāt occur to me, but since you asked - why, with the kitbag, of course.ā
So unlike that sergeant, Iām going to pretend I never saw this ask, yes?
