A/N: Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime so I write fan fiction on company time (and itâs a non profit dime so itâs even less than a real dime).
I genuinely think Adrian would have both terrible taste in music and great taste. Like all the songs are terrible but thereâs something there so you gotta give him some credit.
He calls his partner girlfriend because of the song but everything else is written gender neutral.
Also if youâre interested, hereâs my Adrian Chase playlist on Spotify. Itâs filled with songs I think either describe him or heâd like:
Word Count: 1.9 k
Adrian found himself sitting outside his partnerâs apartment in his car at 8 AM. Drumming his fingers along to the song he could not wait to show them as he waited for them to come downstairs. He was fresh eyed from a night of patrolling and fully intended to crash as soon as he dropped them off since he had a shift at 3 at Fennel Fields.
He had texted them 5 minutes ago that he was there, but he knew he was early and it was early for them to even be awake. He had learned pretty soon into their relationship that they are not a morning person, neither was he but when it came to them he would be happy at seeing them at any time they let him. Although they did come up with a rule that he couldnât just show up as Vigilante, as that scared them the first time he showed up at their window. He couldnât help it, he was always excited to see them and he didnât think his suit would scare them! Theyâre not a criminal so thereâs no point in them being scared in his opinion. They didnât see it that way.
All of his friends (coworkers) at Fennel Fields kept telling him what a âdragâ it must be that he had to drive his partner everywhere while their car was in the shop. But he didnât mind and he didnât understand why he should mind. He loves spending time with them and this was just another way for him to not seem so crazy obsessed with them, but also getting to see them as much as possible.
A risky balance that he is still trying to navigate and definitely struggling with.
He was lucky Adebayo heard Chris give him some, in her words, âterrible terrible advice that was going to get him arrestedâ and gave him what must have been better advice because after dating for almost 7 months things were still going well. Which, as he has bragged many times to them (both his partner and anyone who will listen) that this is the longest heâs been in a relationship. However, when he told them that, they looked at him with both awe and confusion. He guessed it was hard to believe someone who was 30 hadnât had a âproperâ relationship yet.
Being in a relationship was new to navigate for him. It was hard and tricky and sometimes he said things that upset them and he didnât understand why they would be upset. Like why would they be upset that he got arrested in order to try to kill his BFFâs father? The man was racist and awful. But he learned, with a lot of guidance, that they were just worried about him and his safety. Which was new to him. Itâs been a steep learning curve for himself, but theyâve been incredibly patient with him.
And itâs not that heâs some whiny virgin, itâs just most of the time when heâs having sex itâs with strangers in his Vigilante suit or with a threesome with Chris. Itâs been a long time since he's had a typical relationship. He wasnât really interested in relationships anyway until he met his partner.
It was hard to admit but sometimes Chris would get mad at him, for no good reason in Adrianâs opinion, and would make a comment that he couldnât believe that someone was dating him - not just fucking him, but actually swear to God dating him. He tried to not let it bother him, but sometimes when it was just him in his thoughts he did start to wonder if Chris was right.
However, somehow they were always able to make those thoughts go away. They enjoyed being around him, they enjoyed texting him, and they enjoyed making out with him.
It was much easier to convince himself to stay and hangout with them instead of going out as Vigilante when he was already with them. Which, of course, crime couldnât wait, but ever since saving the world from alien butterflies he had decided maybe he did deserve a little break.
Isnât that the way superheroes stories go? He thought to himself, he gets to be with someone then theyâll be kidnapped but heâll be the hero and rescue them and theyâll live happily ever after?
To him it takes so much effort for him to just not kill people who look at them like they want to be with them. He knows he needs to wait till they commit a crime before killing them, but sometimes he feels like he should be allowed to bend his own rules. Especially when it comes to people looking at his partner.
Itâs barely another minute when the song replays and he drags himself out of his thoughts and he finally sees them leave their apartment building. A frown etched on their face until their eyes landed on his Sebring. Even though heâs not fully sure if they can see him through the tinted windows clearly their face lights up with a smile that he canât help but return.
As quickly as he can he rushes out of his car in order to open the passenger side for his partner. Adrian watches them as they come closer, their smile turning more bashful and face a little flush. Once they're close enough they lean in and kiss his check, an appropriate thank you for opening their door as they slide into his car.
âGood morning my darling angel baby! How is your morning going?â He asks with a knowing look, his partner rolls their eyes with a kind smile as they get into the car.
âMuch better now that Iâm here with you, Ades.â Adrian, satisfied with that answer, shuts their door and rushes back to his side. Which is his least favorite part of their mornings, one time he tried to slide across the hood of his car to make the time apart shorter, but he ended up hurting himself, so he promised to not try it again.
He may or may not still be practicing that move while out on patrol on random cars when no one was around, hoping soon heâll be able to impress them with his raw talent and sex appeal.
Once in the car he immediately starts talking doing his usual trying to stall driving away for as long as possible. One leg remains on the floor when he turns to face them, the other crossed. In no time his hand finds anywhere he can reach - squeezing their hand, touching their cheek sweetly, playing with the collar on their shirt. All while he talks away about nothing.
Heâs not even really sure what all heâs saying, but he notices their eyes continuously flicking to his phone thatâs plugged into the aux while nodding. Thatâs when he realizes that theyâve noticed the repeating song.
âDo you like this song? It reminds me of you!â He immediately asks, eyes wide behind his glasses, his smile falls just for a second when they let out a laugh. Itâs not a mean laugh, Adrian knows those well from Chris, but thereâs something about that Adrian knows doesnât line up with what he said.
âIâm sorry, Adrian. This song reminds you of me? This one thatâs playing right now?â They said with a laugh. He can tell theyâre not taking him seriously.
âYes, it does!â He slightly pouts.
âYouâre telling me that the song, Cupidâs Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes, reminds you of me?â They asked.
âYes!â
âAdrian!â They sound almost exasperated to Adrian, but that still doesnât feel right to him.
âWhat?â
âThis song is terrible!â For a second heâs stunned but then he realizes that they just donât get it, maybe they havenât listened to it enough like he has. He had just found the song last week, what were the odds they had already heard it?
âIt is not terrible! The lyrics are very true and speak to me! Especially about you!â
âLike what?â They tease. Adrian scrambles for his phone, opening up the lyrics which he had opened because he assumed theyâd like the song and want to sing along with him.
ââI love it when she calls my phoneâ, âsheâs got a smile thatâll make thatâll make the most senile annoying old man bite his tongueâ and âsheâs got the cutest laugh I ever heard!ââ Adrian read out. âThose are just three lines, but youâre telling me those donât describe you!â
Adrian watches them closely, waiting for it to click in their brain why he would hear this song and think of them, but they just keep looking at him like heâs crazy.
He suddenly has a thought that maybe Chris is right about him, maybe heâs too much for a relationship, too weird, too difficult to understand. He hates second guessing himself, especially when it comes to missions and his choices, but as he tries to explain his reasoning for the song he becomes more and more insecure as his partner's expression doesnât change.
Heâs confused and growing frustrated, the song is good and it reminds him of them. He just wants them to understand that, but heâs worried if he sticks by the song too much theyâll start to think that maybe heâs terrible like the song.
âAdrianâŠâ They start, but he doesnât let them finish, whether itâs from self preservation or defense neither of them are sure.
âI mean itâs just a song, right? And if it reminds me of you I mean it doesnât have to?â
âAdrian.â They try again, but he keeps going.
âChris is always saying my music taste is shit and Jon never lets me have the aux in the van during missions, so maybe my taste is just bad. But maybe my music taste being bad doesnât have to mean that the song doesnât describe how I feel about you.â
âAdrian.â
âI could make you a whole playlist of songs that remind me of you, but thereâs just something about this song like youâre my girlfriend! The only one I got, like the song!â
âI better be.â They try saying with a laugh, but Adrian keeps going.
âOf course! And he says that âI love it when she calls my phone!â Which is true! I mean, everyone in my phone has a special ringtone, but yours is extra special!â
Adrian has completely lost sight of his partner and the conversation, his vision is tunneled as all he cares about is making sure his partner understands the song. Understand why he likes it, why it reminds him of them, and maybe understand him even more. Heâs completely blind to the growing smile on his partner's face.
âI just really think if you listened to the song maybe 10 more times-â He starts, but is finally interrupted.
âAdrian, baby, listen.â He finally stops and slowly looks at them. âI think itâs sweet that you think this song reminds you of me, I shouldnât have laughed. Iâm sorry. Itâs just not my taste in music, but it doesnât mean itâs not good.â They said and slowly Adrianâs smile came back to his face.
âOh, yeah I guess that makes sense.â He said starting the car up. âDo you have time before work to grab breakfast?â His partner smiles and laughs, always seemingly astonished at how quickly he lets things go, but in his mind itâs solved so why bother with it.
âSure, Adrian, letâs get some breakfast.â They smiled, already assuming thatâs why he had been an hour early to pick them up for work. He always tried to play it cool, but he was never cool.

Hiya, Friends! It's Sunday again. I'm not in the best headspace for going into a new week, but what else is new? In writing news, I have no idea what I'm doing and the words just aren't working for or with me. Oh well. See what I mean under the cut, but first:
Thanks for the tags @artsyunderstudy, @aroace-genderfluid-sheep, @johnwgrey, @onepintobean, @shrek-gogurt, @hushed-chorus, @chen-chen-chen-again-chen, and @you-remind-me-of-the-babe!! I've loved seeing what everyone is up to! You are all amazing and talented and I am in awe of everything you do!
The last time I did a WIPsday, I posted from Baz's POV so I wanted to do Simon's POV today. Unfortunately, I don't have a block of consecutive sentences that I like enough to post, so here are some disjointed ones:
I should have gone for quick, sneak attacks rather than a showy assault if Iâd wanted a proper cat-and-mouse.
Thatâs okay, I can fix it. I love fixing it.
âDo you yield?â Baz murmurs, a low rumble next to my ear, and I grin.
I glance up at him as my wings burst free of the waning magic that held them, âDo you?â
He gets this look in his eyes sometimes like he wants to devour me. Heâs got that look now, and I canât contain my smile.
Not sure if I like my Simon yet. I don't think I have his voice settled as much as Baz's.
No tags to post, because it's late and I think at this point probably everyone who wants to post has done it. I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and are more prepared for this week than I am! Sending hugs and love to everyone who needs or wants it. Take care of yourselves!

Grudgingly agreeing to his quest, they geared up and said their goodbyes to their friends, and they departed from the Firefly HQ. Lev and Abby travel to what used to be Los Angeles, and they come across a militant style base set up in the middle of an old Quarantine Zone, destroyed, rebuilt, and now host to a faction called The Saviors. They were a brutal, bully, type of gang who had viciously and disgustingly stayed alive through cheating, backstabbing, robbing, murdering, or anything else they had to do. They would put out fake broadcasts to lure in unsuspecting survivors to come find them, only to be robbed, killed, or worse.
Being ambushed without a warning, and having caged infected let loose upon them, Abby and Lev had to fend off their attackers, killing anyone in their way. Abby being a militant weapons expert, and Lev with his few but packed years of bow and knife training, were able to carve their way through the city, weaving in and out of buildings, subway systems, and eventually climbing the Wilshire Grand Center Tower, where the leader of the Saviors had scurried in hopes of safety with a band of his own.
So I wrote this, I have no idea whats up with me and sad fics lately...sorry.
Implied Destiel, Implied Car crash, Character death.
Castiel didnât remember the impact. It was sudden and jerked him and the other two people in the car to the right. Smacking his head against the window so harshly it shattered under the force of the impact.
He also didnât remember what happened after, though Sam did try to tell him that they all just sat in agony for a while, as the bus driver and his passengers called for help.
He didnât remember being put in the ambulance, but he did remember waking up halfway there and the paramedic demanding he stop moving, because he was lucky to have even been alive.
He didnât remember much of the first three weeks after the accident, they said concussions can do that, but He did remembered pain killers. Lots and lots of pain killers.
He didnât remember the times Sam came to check on him, just to make sure he was still breathing. But he did remember hearing a doctor talking to a nurse outside his door about how one of the boys in the crash didnât make it.
Looking back on it now, he couldnât remember how long he had been in the hospital, but he did remember having to leave in a suit so he could go to his friendâs funeral.
As a side effect of his concussion, he couldnât remember that this person used to be a lot more than just his friend. But he did know that somehow, this empty feeling in his chest would never be filled.Â
