A new old lady comes to town
I lowkey feel really financially irresponsible for getting this doll but like...I needed her ekljghekljh So right before I ordered Mako from Mandarake, I found a 2-year-old listing on one of the FB for a heavily yellowed MSD Mika with the most lovely, incredibly light and subtle faceup ever and I instantly messaged the seller even though the listing was ancient. Old, yellowed Minis are my favorite resins, and I’ve wanted a Mika since I was thirteen. Right as I was getting into BJDs, Mika was one of the first dolls I loved, along with AR Ren and Cien. I’ve already got Ren and she’s my favorite BJD, and I definitely wanted to add Mika to my collection because I still love her sculpt so much. They didn’t get back to me for a while, so I decided to not risk it and order Mako because I kept missing out on her and didn’t know if the seller would even have Mika still. But right after I got Mako, the seller got back to me with pictures of her and I knew right then and there, that I was about to be a broke bitch because I needed her.
I mean...look at her lmao she’s stunning. The seller thankfully let me do a layaway, which I paid off in two weeks because I was just so excited to have her, and she was delivered today!
She’s waiting on a pair of Mako eyes with a similar color scheme (but more depth because these ones look a little more jaundiced than I’d like) and I’m not sure about this wig just yet, but god, she’s so beautiful. From what I can gather, she’s an Oldskin (I think Beauty White but she’s so yellowed that it’s hard to tell) and she has the old headcap with the post/hole attachment system, unfortunately the seller lost her headplate a long time ago so I can’t use that to figure out which release she was, and the only markings in her head are the Volks logo and a triangle etched into the cap and inside of her head. If she’s BW, I think she might be the Character Expo Mika from ‘04, LE of 45 dolls. Akaik that’s the only Oldskin BW Mika? She definitely needs to be restrung, but she’s fine for now. Anyway I love her so much and I’m incredibly happy that I decided to message the seller despite the listing being so old lol
