Klaus stumbled back when he felt the awful sting on his cheek, one that he’d felt before at the hands of their father. Klaus wasn’t sure, but he thought his other siblings probably got slapped as well on occasion. Out of the bunch, though, Klaus was the most disorderly. He brought his hand up to his cheek. The skin felt hot now, and he was sure it was a little red. 

He didn’t know what to do. Vanya was scared, he knew that much, but he didn’t know much else. He couldn’t blame her for being scared. He was too. There was so much going on that none of them had answers to.

I am loving these headcanon memes, fantastic development questions! They’re so specific and really force me to think about things I haven’t considered yet. Ummm let’s see, this is really one of those questions that depends on the stage of Klaus’ life.I feel that Klaus has had lot of growth between The Umbrella Academy and life after it. I believe in his youth Klaus has a lot of survivor’s guilt about Ben. and I’d be inclined to say that seeing his dead brother would be taxing on him in general.But as he grows up he just realizes it’s something he just can’t change and has turned chosen to hide behind humor (ie; telling him to drop dead)

But canonly we see him have growth after the ten months that he spent with Dave in Vietnam and that he has matured even in the few days that he was gone. So Klaus’ most recent regret, is not bringing Dave to the future with him. He wishes that he had thought of it sooner. If he had been in a better mental state I believe Klaus might have tried to figure out how to use the briefcase to go back in time to save Dave. I honestly don’t blame Klaus for destroying the briefcase the moment he got back to 2019 (he’s clearly fragile and acting on impulse). Diego mentions that Klaus can at least see the one that he lost and I think whenI think when Klaus destroyed the briefcase,somewhere in his mind he knew that. Klaus is the kind of person who needed to hit rock bottom and Dave’s death was really rock bottom for Klaus. I think Dave dying was the only way that Klaus would have ever gotten sober. 

While some of the others had moved out to do their own thing, unfortunately for Klaus he was still at home. The seance hummed as he played with the coiled rope of the telephone, wedging the rings between his fingers as he listened to her response. “Ohh and I get to see your fancy little apartment again,” he purred happily.He really did want to see his sister and was excited to visit her,but to be more honest, Klaus was happier about getting out of the house. Luther was being more intolerable than usual, and Reginald was...well Reginald.
