Yk what I need.
Jack Wolfe as a son of Apollo.
Made better in Orpheus being one I. Some versions.
The successive French rebellions, between 1790s to 1870s, are all efforts to squash every last Bourbon and Bonaparte influence
The French do not play around in their visceral hatred towards the Bourbons and such
It actually makes
Raoul and Marius leaving behind the French aristocracy all the more meaningful
Altho Marius had a truce with his birth family, him leaving behind French aristocracy is also a testament to him finally accwpting the truth that the world of French aristocracy is dying and built on sand, especially after the First French Revolution. He willingly left it all behind to rebuild a new life on journalism, and with Cosette, who represents the true soul of France - liberte, egalite, fraternite ( liberty, freedom, comradeship )
Enjolras, Combeferre ans Courfeyrace may be walking testaments of the proverb, but Cosette is a walking testament of the true meaning of that
Similarly, Raoul walking away from French aristocracy is him finally having enough of the De Chagny BS and refused to live in a world built on crumbling sand anymore
He is way happier in Sweden with Christine, honestly
I finally understood more why Marius and Raoul end up leaving behind French aristocratic circles they were raised in in the books
Les Mis and POTO are entire jabs to rhe falling French aristocracy itself
And turns out, the French readers understood that better than most
Dang
I DID NOT really catch that in my first read
It actually makes Cosette's gothic, quasi Chanel like wardrobe, and Christine's ethereal Givenchy/Dior like wardrobe all the more sense
Srsly Cosette's wardrobe may have served as an inspiration for Chanel later - black dresses, white gloves, pearls, etc
And Christine's chiffon gowns, complex hairdos, faerie like motifs, for Dior and Givenchy later - need I say more
Gabrielle Chanel is also raised in a convent as a young girl, and learned sewing from the nuns
Cosette learned visual arts from the nuns
Both are striking brunettes who weren't ' conventionally pretty ' for their times, but they are stunners in their own rights
Both arent afraid to speak up their minds, but are more reserved about it
Both are artistic souls
Both use their art to channel their voices in times if upheaval
Both went from rags to riches
And both often wear black and white
I did not clock in on the parallels before
Until lately
In the books, Christine had a more ' classical ' beauty - plump figure, golden hair, blue eyes, etc
Cosette had a ' less conventional ' beauty, yet with her own striking charm ( with brown hair, blue eyes and such )
I also got Audrey Hepburn vibes from book Cosette
And Sissel Kyrkjebo and Mary Costa vibes from book Christine
I like how the Les Mis book details on how Cosette used her visual art talents as a medium of pacifistic activism
And she weaponized on being a ' proper lady '
It gives us even more context to Cosette, especially in the musical
The Les Mis musical movie did a great job at that, even with a blonde Cosette ( Amanda is brilliant as Cosette btw )
Cosette's singing voice is not meant to be operatic like Christine's - it's more of a church choir type, tying to her once being part of the convent school choir
The books do give us more context on the Wicked, Les Mis, and POTO musicals
Okay, the books do have various differences to those musicals, yet still
if u ever feel like ur on the edge or like about to go insane please do the math or check your tracking app bc I guarantee you’re a week away from your period
Warning: spoilers ahead! 'Dexter: Original Sin' showrunner Clyde Phillips explains why he brought Dexter (Michael C. Hall) back from the dea
Imagine giving an interview as the showrunner and being like 'yeah no there was no plan to this. Money made us do it, yeah. I had about two weeks because there's a guy that works there that likes prequels. Apparently they're good for money. Yeah no I'm still editing actually. The actors haven't even gone home yet. I only made the last show to give him a proper send off and finally kill him like I always wanted to but oh well. There's money in this though. See, we put loads of fan service easter eggs in it so people don't notice the show we're making. Creative purpose? No we haven't got one, no. The show is bound to suck, really. We're building the dexterverse"
Like, do you hear yourself
