hey again, dear exiled! in this post you’re going to see the mini profile (along with a really simple bonus template!), the main profile, one of the forum styles, and the home screen which is pictured above.
the mini profile (+ a couple other images) shows both lightmode and darkmode versions of this skin. we’ll also be using a point and award system! those little badges will sit right beneath the avatar when the time comes. don’t worry, if you’re not interested in badges, you don’t have to take part. it’s only there for those who love them.
as for the main profile it’s basically just a handful of standard stats, five trait levels, four aesthetic images (190x190px) and the plotting needs section which can be the traditional platonic/romantic/etc. or something more specific like a "looking for" where you only type what you need. and for those of you who wish to use the freestyle section, the area between the trait levels and member info will expand giving you plenty of space! you’re free to use the styling we’ve created or add your own. hope you enjoy!

some nights seem darker than others. they’ve an unease about them that seeps through gooseflesh and settles in the meat of your bones like the cold in the thickest of winter. those aren’t always the nights you need to worry about, though. not in a place like exile.
bad things always seem to happen here, like there’s something in the water. or maybe bad things happen here because they’re drawn to the soil the way that we're drawn to doorways; simply and definitely because doorways are where things come to stand. either way, everyone in exile, new and old, has heard the stories. hell, some of them have their own.
the whistler.
if you live in summerset you may, on every third morning at precisely 3:03 am, hear whistling outside your home. it’ll slip between houses, gliding past windows, and make its way down the next street. then the next. the tune as haunting as the time before.
never under any circumstances, no matter how curious your mind, should you peer out your window to find the source of this whistling. not even the tiniest peek. for you will not like what you see and quite possibly, wouldn’t be able to tell a soul if you did anyway. people who see him just aren’t quite the same after. it changes them. almost as if their very souls had been drained from their bodies leaving nothing more than the shells that used to house them. leaching all of the goodness from their lives and infecting them with an unluckiness that spreads to everyone they so happen touch. and whatever you do, if the whistler comes knocking, do not answer your door. we still haven’t found the lost souls who have to tell their stories, yet.
blackwood grove.
if you find yourself travelling far past the stench of the wealthy that reside in ivy hill, you’ll come upon a sweet little sign on iron gates that says blackwood grove. rows of pretty new houses that were rebuilt within the last century. one of the many parts of exile’s history that it’s tried so desperately to brush under the rug. unfortunately for exile, the events that transpired there refuse to be erased. in 1692, as many of you already know, salem cast it’s first witch trials. and over the next year or so where more than two hundred people were accused, thirty were found guilty. some were executed by hanging, while others were imprisoned and died without seeing the light of another day. one was even pressed to death. what you didn’t know─unless you live here, of course─ is that exile was much, much worse.
the rumors of witches being burned at the stake originated here. because that’s exactly what they did. any woman found practicing witchcraft were made marvelous examples of. they were taken to the edge of town, stripped bare of their clothes and pride, bound them and set aflame in front of the entire town like it was some sort of spectacle. they’d cave in the heads of their children and drown their little babies to stop the spread of any wickedness they may have passed on. and one day, the fire burned so hot and high and out of control, that it scorched the earth killing any living soul for acres who happened to be standing on it. and it was called a tragedy.
they say that land is haunted now. cursed. legend has it, it was an angry soul that took vengeance on the people. the very ones who watched as they burned, only days prior, ignoring their pleas of innocence. that a single ember of their charred soul drifted into the flames and ignited it with pure destruction. and as for blackwood grove, no one who lives there tends to stay for long. leaving rows of vacant homes as a warning to those nearby to stay very, very far away.
we call to clara grace.
according to legend, if you're trying to invoke the spirit of bloody mary, you're to lock yourself in a darkened room and chant her name thirteen times whilst looking into a mirror and she'll appear; a gauntly corpse screaming yours, thirteen times back. maybe curse you, drink your blood, scratch your eyes out. but that's a fool's legend created to protect you from the real one.
the room must be dark, yes, but in one hand you'll need a candle to appease the shadows. a virgin wick if you want to try your best at not offending them. the other, the one you've soaked in the pond water near [hood/location], will need to be pressed against the glass. a hand to hold the way lovers do. and finally, you'll call out her name three times with eyes closed and when you've opened them she'll be there, waiting for you.
but when you call to her, do not let bloody mary slip from your lips. her name is clara.
now, they say if you've been hurt or met with death, she'll be kind. understanding that, like her, you too have suffered. and she'll leave you. but if you have blood on your hands─accidental or otherwise─or hate in your heart, she'll grip your fingers tight and pull you into the mirror with her. never to be seen, again.
of course, others will tell you something a little different. that she pulls you in, but not entirely. only enough to leave a gaping wound in your arm. a blood curse that causes you to hallucinate terrifying visions like bugs crawling out of your orifices or noticing your own rotting from the inside out. a preview of what’s to come. and the only thing there is to stop it is by swallowing a sliver of the old burning posts, a sliver the weight of your crimes, of your guilt, before she takes you. because by then, it’s far too late. the only thing that’ll be left of you are the little pieces that your family will find, one by one, until the day they join you.
bloody mary is just a story. clara grace, however... was a witch.
the wood.
at first glance the wood of exile seems beautiful and lush. give them a further gander and you will feel the distinct unease, stay a little longer and you’ll find that people have gone missing or tend to get lost in the thick expanse of nature. and time? it has no meaning once you’ve crossed the treeline. the hand of time clicks on by while the trees come alive. some people swear they whisper to them, luring them in. further and further. others see their lost loved ones at the edge of the wood, a shadow, a shape… sometimes something that they can’t quite explain.
there’s something in the wood. many swear to never step foot in that terrain, others find it helps to seek permission and ask for safe passage before they trudge through the unholy soil. if you're smart you would stay away. these woods have devoured more than their fair share.
not enough for you? don’t worry, we’ll be allowing members to add to our current lore (via request or forum experience) as well as create some themselves to be added sitewide. there will also be new lore with certain subplots that will pop up when the time comes, depending on how many twists the site takes as we grow.
located just beyond northside, ivy hill is home to exile's upperclass citizens. a mix of old and new money resides here as well as many large and over the top estates and manors, most of which have a rich family history and a collective tragedy that have inspired a few scary stories or two from some of the local youth. the estates found here usually include a surplus of open land and the structures tower over what one might find in the rest of exile. living on ivy hill may sound like a dream, but don’t underestimate the looming tree line of the whispering woods where the shadows threaten to swallow whole your home sweet home.
northside.
considered the "good" side of town, northside is home to the upper middle class of exile - our own little suburbia. arguably the least ominous part of exile (from an onlooker's point of view at least), northside offers a bit of normalcy to the locals and visitors alike. it’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect - family friendly, convenient, usually quiet with children running amok and joggers out with their dogs...at least, during the daylight hours. the area is mostly residential save for the northside elementary school, a farmer's market, a few churches, and some family owned restaurants and businesses.
woodcrest.
located at the heart of exile, woodcrest is easily the most bustling part of town and home to a wide variety of class types. it is the place to go if you’re looking to shop or in the mood to meet up with some friends, this is where you’ll find the majority of businesses, shopping, entertainment and food district. anyone who resides here most likely lives above, behind or next to a business of some sort. a few different types of bars, some local eateries, and a row of shops usually serve the community well when they need to get away from the sometimes claustrophobia inducing neighborhoods. woodcrest's more loud and vibrant atmosphere is usually enough to distract from the looming darkness overhead.
summerset.
summerset is extended from downtown, and the largest residential neighborhood in exile with the majority of people likely residing here. a few blocks of single family, mostly one story homes along with a couple of apartment complexes and residential housing for the nearby college are all snugly situated within the neighborhood limits. the town's high school, along with the sheriff's station are also located in this borough. summerset might not be as quiet as northside, but it still has a particular charm.
southside.
the southside is as equally eerie as the rest of the town and is in large part the stomping grounds of one or two criminal underbellies. however, your fair share of normal civilians also reside here and the southside has its very own elementary school just like the northside. home to the seedier aesthetic dive bars, a tattoo parlor, and other small and a bit run-down businesses, southside is the place your parents told you to stay away from. however, there are few places, like the local drive in, that keep outsiders coming in. it may look a bit weathered and old school - as if someone teleported you to another dimension that just so happens to be stuck in time, but not to worry, the aliens probably haven’t come for you...yet.
i think it’s about time we release our guidelines and neighborhoods! anyone who’d like to know more, please keep on reading.
registering.
we’re so glad that you’re interested in joining exile and we’ve put together a simple list of guidelines to help you along your way! first things first, registration! when we finally open and you register an account username, it should be in the first and last name in all lowercase format (for example, bill denbrough).
since we have a small town setting, we like the idea of each character having a unique name on the site, so we ask that there are no duplicate first names. we also do not allow duplicate last names (excluding cultural exceptions) unless characters are related to one another.
when it comes to aliases, we also do not allow duplicates - no exceptions. you’ll have a chance to check out our member directory before choosing an alias to ensure the name you wish to use isn’t already on the site. if your usual alias is taken, please think of something else that may be available (we also ask that members don't just slap a 2 on their alias to get around the rule). we realize this may be frustrating to some, but the rule is in place to avoid confusion when interacting with each other, whether in the discord or on site.
applying.
we will be using member profile apps/shippers rather than your standard shipper posts. we’ll be supplying a brief guide if you need help with your app, but if you're still stuck, feel free to dm a staff member. after you've finished, post with the proper form in the completed apps channel on the site discord and we'll get to it within twenty four hours.
claims & limits.
on exile, face claim reservations will last a total of seventy-two (72) hours, with the option of an additional twenty-four hour extension if you end up needed a little more time to finish your shipper application. extensions will only be given if your shipper has been posted and worked on in the incomplete forum. after acceptance, you will have a twenty-four hour window to claim your face before it is eligible for others to reserve.
all face claims must fit the criteria of being either an actor/actress, signed model or musician, verified or have a significant following on social media. we also ask that all face claims have a verifiable age listed somewhere so that the admins can confirm that they are cleared for use. we do not allow faces that are under eighteen years of age to be used nor faces of the deceased - no exceptions! also, if your face claim is on the younger side, please be careful when using their photos for graphics because we do not allow pictures to be used of anyone under eighteen years of age on the site.
we want to encourage diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of character creation, so we ask that members be respectful to face claim ethnicities and avoid whitewashing and/or ethnic bending. your characters’ ethnicity needs to match the ethnicity of the face claim portraying them, no exceptions! if we notice that your face claim’s ethnicity and your character’s ethnicity differ, we will contact you and ask that you make the appropriate adjustments. in the same vein, face claims that are trans, non-binary, or gender non-conforming may not be used to portray cis characters UNLESS they portray cis characters in the media and have expressed that they are happy to do so (example, nico tortorella). cis faces are not to be used to portray any of the aforementioned.
our last rule regarding face claims is that all character ages must be within +/- 5 years of the portrayal’s actual age. for example, if you want to use idris elba on exile, his character’s age must be between 42 and 52 because idris’ fine ass is forty-seven years old.
we'll be starting off with a cap of 10 characters, the first six of which will be free and can be made at any time. each character after that will cost 30,000 points and all previous accounts must have made a post within the activity requirements.
posting & activity.
as roleplayers ourselves, we realize that everyone has varying levels in their personal activity at any given time. we’re all adults with lives and priorities beyond rp and so we want to offer a relaxed and lenient rule in regards to member activity. we ask that each account posts at least one (1) thread post (can be standard or rapidfire) or three (3) communication posts every ten (10) days. ooc posts, social media posts, and development posts will not count toward your activity. instead of holding monthly activity checks, the staff will conduct weekly sweeps in order to keep the site clean and tidy.
if your character is caught in a sweep, they will be sorted to inactive. in order to have a character activated again, you’ll be able to post in the mod topic. if after twenty-four (24) hours you still have not taken the steps to reactivate your character, their face claim will be cleared from our list and will be up for grabs. once two weeks have passed, any inactive accounts will be deleted from the site.
if you know in advance that you will be unable to keep up with our activity requirements for a certain amount of time, you’ll be able to take advantage of our absence topic. if you think you will be absent from the site for over fourteen (14) days, please speak to an admin before posting your absence. members will be given a forty-eight (48) hour grace period to post one of the aforementioned activity requirements following the last day listed on their absence form before they are eligible to be caught in a sweep. while on absence, members are not permitted to reserve faces or create new characters.
graphics & templates.
you will need a total of five (5) images when filling out your profile in the settings tab. first, your character’s avatar (250x420) as well four aesthetic images (190x190) and one square gif. images will resize to fit but we included specific dimensions for anyone who wants them! you will also need to upload an additional square gif (will also resize) in the edit avatar tab of your settings. all of the image fields, along with the rest of the profile fields, must be filled out prior to shipper review.
we ask that all images used in your profile/mini profile be safe for work and that they do not contain any nudity, excessive gore, offensive imagery, etc. we want our members to feel at home and safe by not having to worry about stumbling across something they don’t want to see!
we’ll also offer a variety of codes members are free to use around the site, which can be found in our ever-growing code bank. these codes will be exclusive to exile only and are not to be used on any other site. we also ask that any and all codes used around the site come from our code bank, and our code bank only. this will help defer any unwanted buggyness happening around the site and we definitely like things to look nice and uniformed.
thanks for reading! we can’t wait to start writing with all of you.Â

hello, dear exiled! since things are already booming in the discord, we thought we’d go ahead and drop the premise tonight.Â
on a serious note we’d like to take a second to remind anyone interested that exile is an 18+ roleplay with a 323 rating. this means swearing, mature themes, consensual sexual content, and explicit violence are permitted. we require trigger and content warnings and our only limit on sexual content is that we do not allow rape of any kind being written out. though, it may be part of your characters backstories.
now that that’s out of the way, here’s our first preview.
premise.
exile massachusetts is plagued by death. anyone you mention it to just outside the county limits will look at you sideways and murmur under their breath. everyone knows the stories. people going missing, dying in mysterious ways, taking their own lives in manners that just don't quite make sense. others have seen things, experienced terror first hand that somehow in the end just get brushed under the rug. new posters stapled to poles already littered with decades worth of damned faces.
faces some swear they see to this day, walking around at those empty hours of the night as they’re driving through trying their damndest to get to the next town.
call it a hoax or an overactive imagination. call it whatever you like, but without a doubt there's a distinct sense of unease in a place like this. tar-thick air, with a history that draws all sorts of people to it. curious tourists listening at the tree-line to see if the rumors are true─if the trees really do whisper your name. to religious occultists looking to feel the power absorbed in the soil of salem's lost sister... to the unsavory souls who just wanna bury all of their dirty, rotten secrets beneath it and hope to god they don't dig their way to the surface. and the families who have spent their entire lives cursed or otherwise anchored to this town for the same damn reasons.
