EXILE is an urban fantasy roleplay based in the fictional town of exile, massachusetts coming mid-october 2020 to jcink premium. we plan to hold a ten day buzz before opening our doors so be sure to follow us for updates!
garrison âgradyâ oliver knox.
thirty. moss. woodcrest. casey deidrick.
his name is grady. no one calls him garrison, not anymore. not since his mother was around. i say around and not alive, because she isn't dead, not to him. mariella knox, bless her soul, is one of the lost. there one day and gone the next, called to the trees. she told him that, you know? that she'd heard them calling her name for months before. months before he woke up and found an empty bed, lily powder sheets piled up unsightly to one corner, cold to the touch. people in town say she's run away. a girl like mariella never lives down their teenage reputation. they think she found some beautiful man and ran off with him, abandoning her family for adventure. but that's bullshit. his mother would never leave him. not in exile, not alone. and he's gonna find her.
about the man.
this is grady! his life pretty much always baseline sucks and his attitude and demeanor mirrors that. southside born and raised by a wild-child mother and a trash father, who is wondering around this town somewhere, he supposes. they haven't spoken since his mom disappeared when he was fourteen. not because their relationship sufferedâthat ship sailed a long time agoâbut because when it was time to claim him, dear ol' dad just didn't want the job. so his aunt, his mother's sister, finished raising him. he now lives above the book cafe she owns in woodcrest and devotes his life to the unexplained and gruesome things that seem to happen in exile. working whenever his aunt needs him at the shop while taking on jobs as an amateur sleuth to pay the bills and fund his precious podcast, the night shift. and itâs easier to make money off cheating spouses than you might realize. especially in a small town with such an ugly history.
connections.
grads is the type of guy  who makes more acquaintances than he does friends. and even more enemies than that. he will casually put his nose in your business because that's his job and he makes no apologies for who he is. i feel like he might have a couple good friends, but for the most part, people just don't gravitate toward him. not unless they're unfortunate enough to be thrown in his path or share his love of the unexplained or life experience with the wood. it would be nice to have a little back and forth relationship with someone who might work for his aunt? heâs always in the shop helping himself to free coffee and snacks and likes to poke and prod when heâs bored or ask a million intrusive questions when heâs curious. i also wouldnât mind if he had a younger sister who was sort of in the same boat as him as far as their aunt taking guardianship over them. maybe she hates what he does? maybe she wants him to stop looking or thinks heâs gonna get himself killed? maybe sheâs part of his team, who knows! hmu if you have any ideas you wanna toss around.
I THOUGHT FOR SO LONG THAT TIME WAS LIKE A LINE, THAT THAT OUR MOMENTS WERE LAID OUT LIKE DOMINOES, AND THAT THEY FELL, ONE INTO ANOTHER AND ON IT WENT, JUST DAYS TIPPING, ONE INTO THE NEXT, INTO THE NEXT, IN A LONG LINE BETWEEN THE BEGINNING AND THE END. BUT I WAS WRONG. ITâS NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL. OUR MOMENTS FALL AROUND US LIKE RAIN. OR SNOW. OR CONFETTI.

have you ever met a more neurotic, snarky mess than miriam deirdre chomsky? an exile native, miri was raised by a highly overprotective mother, but never quite had the charm and wit and fuck you attitude of her older sister. she got stuck in her motherâs net (some call it munchausen by proxy) and still hasnât escaped; in fact, some might say she ended up becoming her; but, donât tell miriam that, for the love of god.
she and her friends had a fucking serial killer chasing them in the woods and it still took her a long time to leave this stupid town. now sheâs back, against her will, being forced into playing scooby doo and sheâs hating every minute of it. can she make you think youâre dying and sell you a pill to cure you? sure. can she venture into the woods and start digging up dead bodies? you bet to fuck sheâs hightailing it back to her air bnb to scrub herself with lysol.
plotting opportunities
â the old group, the âlosers clubâ, her ex-best friends that sheâd rather not be seeing now, or ever again. they bring up some sour, disgusting memories of crawling through mud and having her mother disinfect her every morning before she came down to breakfast for weeks after.
â healthcare professionals. sheâs going to be seeing a lot. if theyâre old enough they may remember her, or may know stories about her. miriâs not grown up, she most definitely still thinks sheâs got a plethora of illnesses at any given moment. sheâll be driving the fine doctors and nurses of exile out of their minds soon.
â anyone that wants to hear about the executioner of exile first hand, though miri isnât exactly forthcoming with details. sheâs had this shit follow her from place to place, stupid âtrue crime enthusiastsâ wanting to hear about the real life horror movie she went through. no thanks. yâall can fuck off (unless youâre offering her a lot of money, in which case maybe sheâll give you a few morsels).
â thereâll certainly be some people in the sheriffâs department and other law enforcement that are around town currently that will be sick to death of her, too. sheâs begrudgingly attempting to âdo her partâ with her friendsâ plans and instead of going into the woods to search, sheâs using her sales rep training and attempting to woo the police. needless to say, itâs probably not going that well. sheâs likely earned herself a bit of a nickname already.
â anyone and everyone, whether you think you can deal with miri or not. old school friends, old bullies, new friends, new bullies. sheâs not much of an open book and she needs people to annoy, and to confide in. get past her layers of sarcasm and bitchy wit and sheâs actually sort of a decent human being. sheâs honest, at least; and thatâs something a lot of people in this town sorely need.
