Exercise is a very important part of your dog's wellbeing and an important part of training. A tired dog, is a good and happy dog! Here are 5 easy ways to get your dog some much needed exercise:

Running or walking. Take your dog on a daily run or walk with you. Walking with your dog is great for bonding and training as well as exercise. Not to mention, it's good for you too! On days when you can't get out for a walk or run, the treadmill is another option for exercise. If your dog has been properly trained to walk on the treadmill, it can be a lifesaver on bad weather days!

Fetch. If you have a dog that loves to play fetch, that's a great source of exercise! You can even play fetch with your dog while relaxing on the couch if you've got the space. You can also practice your obedience during a game of fetch by having your dog perform sits and downs before getting another throw!

Hide and seek. You can play hide and seek with your dog by hiding yourself and then calling your dog to find you or by hiding treats around the house and letting your dog use his nose to find them! Both versions are good for burning off that mental energy too!

Training. Mental stimulation in the form of obedience training is great for your dog. It's just as important to burn your dog's mental energy as it is their physical energy. You can also teach your dog tricks to keep training challenging and fun!

Playing with another dog. If your dog is dog-friendly and enjoys playing with other dogs, that's a good option for exercise. If you have friends or family with dog-friendly dogs as well, you can set up doggie play dates. There are many places that offer Doggie Day Camp as an option for dog play time as well, just make sure the dogs are being well supervised at all times.
