so! last week, luke suddenly followed destry allyn spielberg (yes, that Spielberg - and an upcoming director in her own right). she followed him back and i didn't think anything of it until she commented on his latest post:

suspicious. because guess what? her new project is currently in production, and she’s quietly unpinned an older announcement on her Instagram, which usually screams “new announcement coming soon”.

now, normally i'm side-eyeing nepotism like everyone else, but destry’s spoken about wanting to use her privilege to lift up newer talent instead of recycling the same ten Hollywood actors. her directing résumé includes a short film that premiered at Tribeca to critical acclaim and her feature debut, where reviews were mixed. she’s still early in her career so i cant fully judge her credentials but there's promise for sure.

so potentially…luke could be involved in destry’s next feature film (currently in production), Four Assassins (and a Funeral).

now this is where things get juicy. the film’s being produced by Thunder Road Pictures, a.k.a. the studio behind john wick, dev patel's monkey man, and priyanka chopra's 'love again'. not the HUGEST company but it has some credibility.

the script is by ryan hooper, and it made The Black List — the annual list of the best unproduced screenplays floating around Hollywood. (other Black List alums include I, Tonya, Don’t Worry Darling, King Richard, Challengers...so, like, Oscar-caliber company.)

and the logline?? tell me that doesn’t sound like The Kingsman meets Knives Out meets Succession. action! comedy! hot people in suits betraying each other!

if this pans out, it’d be luke’s first comedy-action film, a total change from his usual roles. (yes, i’m still bitter bridgerton robbed us of his comedy chops.) whether he’s a side character, the lead, or the guy who dies halfway through in slow motion - it’s just exciting.

so maybe this all means nothing. but my clown shoes are on, my IMDb tabs are open, and I feel that Deadline article coming any day now.

A Soul With No King – Chapter One / Prologue: The Game

“Fire clings to the air as a yearning heart clings to a sacred vow, drawing its every breath by the other’s mercy. Yet the air roams vast and unbound, beholden to no flame, though it bends for but a heartbeat to cradle the fragile light that burns only for it.”

Daella had long known the truth of her brother. They named Aerion cruel, and cruel he was – yet cruelty was only the outer shell of him. Beneath the blaze and the madness writ in his blood lingered a wounded spirit, forever clawing for the world’s regard. He knew she glimpsed that hidden frailty; she knew he dreaded her seeing it.

But she would not grant him solace. Not as sister, and certainly not as wife, though their father’s will had chained her to Aerion’s side. Better, she thought, to let the man who fancied himself a dragon in mortal flesh chase glory until it consumed him. Better to watch the fire he worshipped rise up and devour him whole. Yet she felt the heat licking at her own heart, as if the blaze meant for him had begun its feast upon her instead.

I have a couple ideas about DBHC Mumbo that I think would be interesting to explore, and I wanted to make sure you were okay with it before I start writing~
