#excessive?

“fireplace” - 25 Days of Jegumas - Day 6 - @noblehouseofgay

James puts two wine glasses on the coffee table and steps back to make sure everything else is in place. He has several blankets spread out on the floor surrounded by every pillow in the flat. The lights are low, he has a few candles lit and the fire is crackling, making the whole room cozy and warm. The coffee table is filled with all of Regulus’ favorite snacks and his favorite bottle of red wine. James also has the kettle on in the kitchen because Regulus will be freezing, and he’ll want tea as soon as he gets home.    

It started snowing this afternoon, but it wasn’t supposed to start until tomorrow. Regulus’ last class is on the other side of campus, and James doesn’t think he prepared to trudge home through a blizzard. (It’s definitely not a blizzard, but James is well acquainted with Regulus' dramatics, and he will not be happy about the snow’s early arrival.)  

James hears the door open, so he grabs his sweatshirt and goes to greet Regulus.

“It’s a fucking blizzard out there! My bones are frozen. I am in desperate need of tea and—" Regulus starts ranting as he’s shaking off the snow and taking off his coat, but the words die on his tongue when he turns around to face James. “Wha—” Regulus freezes with his mouth gaping and his coat half way off.

James chuckles softly and closes the distances between them. “Hi, love.” He whispers and leans down to kiss Regulus’ cheek and slide his coat off the rest of the way.

“What—?” Regulus starts again as James is putting his favorite sweatshirt—that is obviously one of James’ sweatshirts—over his head. Regulus is completely pliant and lets James slip his arms in and pull the sweatshirt down. James is rubbing his hands up and down Regulus’ arms warming him up when Regulus finds his words. “What is all this?”

“It’s a fireplace picnic.” James tells him.

“A fireplace picnic?” Regulus repeats as they move further into the living room.

“Yep! I got your favorite sweatshirt and the coziest blankets and the fire’s been going awhile so the whole room is nice and warm.” James pulls Regulus over to the blankets. “I’m going to wrap you up, and get your tea, then we’re going to have snacks and wine, and I have hot cocoa for later.” They sit down on the blankets and James grabs another one to wrap around Regulus’ shoulders. “And we’re going to snuggle and cuddle until your bones aren’t frozen—and then we’ll probably keep cuddling and do absolutely nothing for the rest of the day.” James leans in and kisses Regulus. “A fireplace picnic.”

“I think fireplace picnics are my new favorite thing.” Regulus tells James and kisses him back.

“I think you’re my favorite thing.” James whispers.

Oh, I should probably mention that CompuCat Studios got some new gear recently. A lot of my gear is stuff that for various reasons I got for free (friends moving, etc.)

If ever I were to send someone else to pick her up, it'd be in this, because I wouldn't feel safe with anyone else driving my baby around in my absence.

I've got to get one of those precious cargo stickers.
