@excdus !! i might be in desperate need of guidance in a couple weeks so i’ll probably hit you up! i’ll be on the upper west side initially if you know the area well. 

@excdus you know it’s not even that either movie is bad. the artist was enjoyable enough, same for la la land, but for award season they prey on a nostalgia that isn’t particularly progressive or inventive within the genre. neither film did anything particularly intelligent or “new” with the original movies they were mimicking and for award season they tend to coast on nostalgia only, not content. doesn’t mean they weren’t good, but i tend to value good + original for awards (though hollywood certainly doesn’t think that way...so no idea why i’m complaining haha)
