Ive just been super unmotivated and all that dumb stuff, but i finally pulled thru!!! The rest of the requests r on their way 🗣🗣

Family!

- The thing is, for a robot, family isn’t much of an...instinctive category, if that makes sense. Humans and other beings and creatures that are biologically designed to be cared for during their youth imprint differently on other people. Claptraps and generally service robots that are digistructed to function right from scratch, first and foremost, don’t have that instinct. 

- And rather than imprinting on a family and then developing into increasing autonomy like humans, Claptrap went the reverse way: The more complex his feelings and thought processes and emotional needs became, the more he developed towards needing a family. 

- This also means that Claptrap’s idea of what a family is is not so much coined by the idea of a biological human family but based on the people around him. It’s not Warm Person Feeding Me -> Parent but rather Family -> People you depend on and have a rocky but generally fond relationship with.

- In a way, he tends to think of robots and other Claptraps as his “biological” family and the humans he is around as his “adopted” family, mostly because the other Claptraps are gone. He likes to think that he would just turn his back on his humans if  he found another Claptrap-friend bc the humans treat him like shit and he likes to think he has backbone , but actually he wouldn’t or would find it horribly difficult to decide because he does care for him. His preference would be for his Claptrap friends to aaaaalll stay with the Crimson Raiders and also the Crimson Raiders to be nicer.

- We know from his echo logs and the Voyage DLC that he used to think of Jack as his father when he was recreated as Fragtrap and that he really suffered under the way Jack treated him and that he was ashamed of disappointing him. Considering this and that Angel actually speaks very fondly about Claptrap in the og Borderlands-game, I like to think that she actually looked after him once in a while and made sure he was safe and even supported him because she knows what it means to be unmade and re-made by her father. 

- She wiped that part from Claptrap’s memory when she knew that she was going to die because that way he wouldn’t have to deal with her loss.

- In a way, the og four Vault Hunters and the Fyrestone Gang were a family to Claptrap (at least from his perspective) but he didn’t think of them as that in those terms then and they didn’t really return the sentiment. 

- The actual direct connection between ‘bunch of people I like’ and ‘family doesn’t have to be a bunch of biologically related organics’ came to him on Elpis when the Elpis-crew was discussing their family, specifically when Athena was talking about being taken as a child and killing her sister (as usual) and Nisha talked about rejecting her own family.

- That is not to say that the Elpis-fam was really that found family to him...because to be fair, they were fairly awful to Claptrap most of the time. He did play with the notion though and tried to gain that sort of respect from them time and time again, but it’s about during the Claptrap-DLC that he realised (in less complex terms) that they were never going to see him that way and  that the best he could hope for was some begrudging  guilt over their treatment of him from some of the group.

- He was still hoping to gain some of Jack’s respect (whom he, again, saw as a mixture of father and god in that version of him and desperately wants to please) by bringing him the H-Source but yeah, we know how that  turned out and that put his family-ambitions to an all time low not so long after he began consciously considering it.

- Not so much a headcanon but a “fuck off, canon”-canon but I completely disregard the outcome of the collecting Claptraps mission in Borderlands 3 and imagine him having a fellow Claptrap friend now

- Another fuck-off-canon headcanon of mine is that I like to imagine that his relationship with Sir Hammerlock was a lot better  than what we see indicated in Borderlands 2 (mostly bc TPS ret-conned a lot of B2 in those regards and I just like to think that since Hammerlock likely knew what Claptraps were like, the warm-tone he has with him in the beginning and his decision to bring him back mean that he does actually care and also that he helped protect Claptrap after he had escaped from Captain Flynt. 

- This also ties in with my headcanon about his family-hopes being at an all time low after the Claptrap DLC and the robo-cide of Claptraps and Hammerlock being good to him being the first step away from that.

- I also said this is another headcanon thing but I like to imagine that he still sees the planet his Kevins come from sometimes. In a few thousand years, by the time they develop into some highly intelligent species and Claptrap is long dead, they will worship him as an Ancient Oracle.

on one hand. Rhys. 🥰🥰.....i just love that White Boy Of The Month so bad i think he is Pretty AND i would treat that man so right, i just know i would. On the other hand. i think vaughn is VERY similar to me in.,, quite a few aspects and i think that would turn out to be nice!! (could also be a little weird. but hey)

i have this headcanon that his dads a chef and has been teaching matt to cook since he was little and matt LOVES it and hes also super good at it too

half the time hes bringing food he’s made to group hangouts cause he just has so much of it at home (and at this point everyone expects him to bring something and Always look forward to it)

F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom

ooohh good question! I think like actively participating in a fandom would be my 8 years at The Lorax fandom (or 9 now but I dont rly do content anymore djkfn). Im not sure if it counts since I havent watched it for like,, 5 or more years now but I still rly like MLP:FIM and I first joined fandom abt 10 years ago which is... legit unreal to think abt jkgnbfk

1. who is the hardest character for you to write?

oooh that’s a tough cookie. From the ones I already wrote, which isn’t really much, I would say Yvette or Vaughn, because I couldn’t picture any good writing reference for them in my mind. I think Vaughn was fine in chapter 1 but i could’ve wrote him a lot better imo. Well maybe if I rework the story someday, He’ll get more attention ;)

2. who is the easiest character for you to write?

Loaderbot, hands down. I love my precious golden boy, He is fun, strong at will, good at heart, always on point and basically the dad of the gang. And also such a memelord XD I really love him. He always fascinated me and I think, imagine him over and over really helped to get into his character.

Other than that, I love to write Sasha and Gaige of course and they are easy of the tongue as well, since they are 2 of my all time favorites, but Loaderbot is probably the easiest for me ;)

4. Where do your story ideas come from?
