The Band Geek and Cheerleader Pt. 1
Captain of Band meets Captain of Cheer
(This is just part 1.....yeah i know it sucks :p)
“Rosie! The football game is next weekend!” Claire shoved the confusing calendar up to the French brunette’s face and stuck out her lip in a pouting formation. “You promised you would choreograph our routine in at least 4 days advance! We have to learn our steps!”
“Yeah, ya can’t juss expect us ta learn it in-a-day!” Malina jutted her hip out and crossed her arms. Leaning in, she narrowed her eyes at the cheer captain. “You better think-a-somethin’ soon chika….or we’re all gonna look like suckers out there.” Her mind drifted to her hot boyfriend who would be playing in the game. She didn’t want to let him down. Rosie stepped back and drew her hands up in mock surrender.
“Girls, girls, please.” She cocked her head, letting her beautiful chocolate milk curls lushly fall over her neck. She sent them that irresistible smile that automatically seemed to put them at ease. “Rosie will figure it all out….you don’t ‘ave to worry about a zhing! I already ‘ave a most genius plan actually…it is sure to be our best performance yet! I swear it!” The entire cheer squad looked doubtfully at her, a bit nervous about their captain’s stress level lately.
“Well, just make sure you get ‘er done…” Roxanne stared at the calendar in Claire’s hands. “We don’t have much time left…” Rosie nodded and began to back away from her demanding team.
“I will…I promise!” She crossed her fingers over her forehead. “Cross my ‘ead and ‘ope to…wait…zhat’s not right…oh well, I will see you all at tonight’s practice!” She then spun on her heel and began trotting off to the cafeteria, her pink and purple cheerleader miniskirt brushing against her pale tone legs as she squirmed away. When she was finally out of view, Rosie groaned and slapped her forehead in exasperation.
“Oh…I ‘ave to come up with an original song for our routine! But I am terrible at zhe…at zhe…zhe zhings where you mix a bunch of songs….like…remixes?” She slowly walked towards the cafeteria and stood in line patiently. She waved to some friends walking by and smiled. Just when she was about to grab a tray and head over to sit with the popular kids, she noticed someone leaning up against the window sill a little ways away from the cafeteria. Her eyes widened in recognition. It was the captain of the band group who had took his team to first place that year at competition. His face had been all over the school with prizes and appreciation. She rolled her eyes and inwardly sighed. What a total geek. Just as she was about to strut away, a thought occurred to her. This thought made her spin on her black high-heels and go sprinting over to the oblivious teen with his large headphones on and his eyes tightly sealed shut.
“Excuse me! Exscuse-moi Monsieur!” She stood right in front of him, setting her lunch tray off to the side. Waving her arms in front of him, she tried frantically to be heard over his blasting music. “Ey! Geek boy! Band nerd! Monsieur…" She stopped and tried to remember. “Monsieur…Emmett? Oui, Emmett!” She continued to yell at him until people started to stare. She stuck her hands on her hips in a huff as he simply continued to bob his head with his eyes closed. Looking around, so that no one would see her talking with such a nerd, Rosie then leaned in and gently pecked him on the cheek. This obviously required his attention.
The head-phoned boy nearly leapt off his seat as his eyes bulged from his head and he looked around in shock. “Wh-what the-“
“Bonjour mon ami!” Rosie smiled cutely and waved to him once more. “Sorry to bozher you…but can we talk for a moment? S’il vous plait?” The boy blinked once or twice through his yellowed glasses, then rolled his eyes and groaned in irritation. Here was the most ditzy, shallow girl in school taking him away from his music by nearly scaring the crap out of him. Then she kissed him, and now she wants to talk. Just great. Scooting over in slight annoyance, he grunted and motioned for her to sit on the windowsill next to him. Gently removing his head-phones, he set them beside him and turned to her expectantly.
“Well…erm…” Rosie struggled to find the right words. His eyes were so big, and now they were just staring at her. Her tongue got lost in the back of her throat. “Uh….you’re a band geek right?”
“…I guess so?” Evan snickered sarcastically. It was fun to see a popular get so flustered over something so stupid. Rosie continued on, trying to keep her cool. She couldn’t be seen talking with a nerd for very long.
“Well…I need your help.” She looked around cautiously, leaning in with one hand cupped to her sweet red lips as if it were a deep secret. “I need you to ‘elp me create an original…uh…mix of songs for zhe cheerleader’s cheer routine zhis Saturday!” She blinked her big mocha doe eyes at him and fluttered her eyelashes as she always did when she wanted something from someone. “I am not very good at picking your Western music….” The boy sighed heavily, glancing at her from the corner of his eye.
“You want my help? Do you even know my name?” Rosie pulled back in surprise. She cocked her head at him quizzically as if he were talking nonsense.
“Does it matter?” The boy shook his head and snickered sarcastically.
“Well zhen of course I do….its….Emmett?” He shook his head. “Ennis?” Another shake of the head. “Excalibur?”
“Its Evan!” He didn’t mean to raise his voice. She was just breathing so softly, and her hair smelled so sweet and cute. In all honesty, Evan wasn’t really sure how to react to such a pretty girl. “My name is Evan…”
“Oh…Evan.” Rosie rolled it around on her lips, pronouncing it with her heavy French accent. “Well my name is-“
“Rosie Louise Dulace. You are a French exchange student who came here about three years ago straight from Paris, you were in a nasty relationship with a senior last year, your shoes always match your socks, you family isn’t very wealthy, and you’re captain of the cheer-squad.” He leaned in a little closer, the smallest coy smile snagging at his lips. “And everybody just loves you.” Rosie’s bottom lip trembled at all his knowledge. Whispering in fear, her eyes widened as she looked at him.
“Y-you aren’t a stalker are you?”
“No….gossip just flies fast when you’re a popular…” He leaned back and closed his eyes once more. “That’s why I prefer the quiet ‘geek’ life.” He put his fingers up in quotation marks. After a few moments, Rosie cleared her throat and repeated her original question.
“Will you please ‘elp me? You’re so good wizh music…and I don’t want to let my team down...” She rested a fragile hand on his knee. “Please?” Evan glanced down at her wrist boredly. He couldn’t help but notice the fresh rope burns around them. Apparently that abusive relationship wasn’t exactly over. He stared up into her deep milky eyes, wondering if there was more to her pitiful story than meets the eye.
“Alright…I’ll help you…” He fell onto the back of the window as Rosie jumped on top of him into a brilliant hug as she whispered praises into his ear.
“Oh zhank you! You are a total life-saver!”
“N-no problem…” He mumbled as her oversized chest pushed down into his cheek. Clearing his throat, he tried to politely peel her off of him. “So…you want to meet up after school? We can meet in the old music department…there’s a recording booth in there I think.”
“Oh oui! Zhat sounds perfect!” Rosie briefly thought about that evening’s practice, but brushed it off. For some odd reason, she really wanted to meet him that evening…alone in a recording booth…just the two of them..
“Oui, it’s a date!” She then jumped off of him and gave him another tender kiss on the cheek. “I look forward to it Evan!” Sending him a quick wave, she dashed away to join her friends. Evan looked after her, his face hot and red from where she had kissed him. He didn’t know how or why, but somehow he had just landed a date with one of the most popular chicks in school.
