Here are photos of some friends and comrades who live in the Donetsk People's Republic.
Some of them grew up in Donetsk. Some were forced into exile by the U.S.-supported neo-Nazi/right-wing oligarch takeover of Ukraine in 2014.
Living in wartime conditions, under an intense economic and political blockade, they have done what they can to support our struggles here, as they did in June 2020 after the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis. You can read their moving statement here: https://tinyurl.com/58njw4hc
They stand with Cuba and Venezuela. They protested the coup against Evo in Bolivia. They worked to defend the reproductive rights of women in Poland and Texas.
Understand that these progressives are some of those Joe Biden and the New York Times call a Russian "false flag." They are living through the bombings, terrorist attacks and threat of invasion by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and fascist battalions that seek to ethnically and politically "cleanse" the multinational Donbass region.
Some are being evacuated. Some are staying to fight. Some can't leave because their parents and grandparents, workers, are too sick to be evacuated.
They gave us their solidarity. It is long past time that we returned it.
