"GLORY"
by Evoca
Sometimes called "The Boys War," the youngest of those that lied about their age to enlist in the Union Army during The Civil War often served a critical role as drummers. In the confusion of battle orders could not be heard and it was imperative that soldiers knew the meaning of different drum beats. Richmond, Virginia, served as capital of the Confederacy but in April, 1865, soldiers were ordered to flee, destroying bridges and supplies behind them, and drummers led the Union march on the city. A month later The Civil War ended and Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation became effective in all states.
