Esmund the protector is now known as Esmund the deserter. He is known to have been a strong warrior but when irene was killed by shad for murdering their child he fled from the fight going into hiding.
The ro'meaves know this to be true. He took up the surname ro'meave and became a lord. He had many knights and married having children. When he began to outlive his time as a human would normally, since he was immortal, he gave a sword to his eldest son and command him to kill him and take up lordship with his relics instead him.
This started the bloody and ruthless tradition of the ro'meave family line. Typically all boys becoming men challenged their father to a duel. Failing with the father showing mercy until they came to an age where victory was theirs.
Others killed in cold blood, a dagger in the night or assassin with gold.
Garroths grandmother killed her father with poison at a very young age, with no brothers to challenge her yet due to her mother still being pregnant she took the throne and had her mother beheaded.
Garte took his mother by sword in a duel. She fell quickly to no one's surprise.
Garroth did not follow this tradition. Instead one day he found his mother late at night covered in blood, she handed him a relic in blood and told him to shush. She did this for him after all, he'd be lord weither he liked it or not. No son of hers would throw away her sacrifice of a years long loveless marriage and all her pain. She did this for him.
