I once was driving around when I found an abandoned school bus, it was rusted and tires flat, windows covered in dust. The field wasn't fenced so I approached to take better pictures, Then I noticed someone standing on the steps of the bus, I shouted a hello but there was no response, not even an acknowledgment they heard. I shouted again and nothing. As I got a little closer the doors snapped closed. Through the windshield, I saw a dark shadow it looked like a man in a letterman jacket. I stopped, the hairs on my neck standing up, I stood watching and he looked at me with yellow-tinted eyes, eyes that locked on to mine. I'm not the type to get scared so I waved. Then the doors burst open and a swarm of flies took off, buzzing around the tree line. I stood where I was and snapped some pictures, there was no one on the bus now. I walked around a little bit snapping pictures, keeping a respectful distance but swatting at flies. Then I stubbed my toe on a Rubik's Cube, a weird thing to find in a field; but so is a school bus. I kicked it over towards the bus and turned back to my car. I drove off, making sure I had no flies in the car. Later I went to download my photos and about 30 of them were just black, with no pictures of the bus. I didn't think about it much I sometimes bump the exposures switch. Still annoyed because they would have been cool pictures.
