I have an acquaintance who does this, I find it's mostly young artists or people who haven't matured out of their weeb phase. They message their commissioner every three or four months and it's just like... that doesn't make up fo you just not doing it? It's frustrating as someone who lives scraping by with commissions, I don't have the luxury to put things off for months.
agreeed, like it’s nice to keep ur customer posted on what’s (supposedly) going on but honestly wtf commissions just outright shouldn’t take months and months to complete. if it takes u that long to get a single drawing done then u quite frankly aren’t ready to sell commissions yet. i’ve had this problem even with people who aren’t that young tho unfortunately.. i think the fact that they’re not face to face with their customer kind of makes them feel like they can put it off without facing any real consequences. but idk the fact of the matter is selling commissions = running a business and artists 100% need to keep that in mind. it’s just bad business to keep putting off your work for months.
