there  was  absolutely  no  way  honey  was  going  to  miss  WINSTON  SU'S  GRAND  RETURN  to  the  stage.  she'd  gotten  a  little  lost  trying  to  catch  bea  between  sets,  ultimately  having  to  give  up  in  order  to  catch  this  one.  the  collaboration  was  a  surprise,  but  it  made  her  attendance  all  the  more  necessary.  WINSTON  AND  BEATRIZ  sharing  the  stage  –  what  more  could  one  honey  anderson  want  ? he's  nervous,  she  can  tell  from  the  crowd.  well,  she'd  been  able  to  tell  he  was  nervous  since  he  had  said  he  was  undecided  about  signing  up,  wondering  if  such  an  event  was  ‘  beneath  him.  ’  all  she  could  do  was  give  him  some  light  encouragement  and  hope  he  made  the  best  choice  for  himself.  she's  more  than  glad  he  did.  she'd  already  prepared  the  praises  she  was  going  to  sing  him  once  his  performance  was  over,  but  what  good  was  that  if  he  didn't  make  it  through  the  performance  ?  her  attempt  to  look  for  bea  after  ruby  valentine's  set  had  her  at  the  back  of  the  crowd,  so  she's  quickly  trying  to  push  her  way  through  it  so  that  he  could  see  her  and  know  that  she  was  (  metaphorically  )  ready  to  catch  him  on  the  off  chance  he  fell.  except  …  he  doesn't  see  her.  in  fact,  it  doesn't  even  seem  like  he  was  looking  for  her.  she  watches  him  look  to  bea  for  the  reassurance  honey  was  already  prepared  to  give  him.  and  it  stops  her  in  her  tracks.  because  tinder  messages  were  just  words  on  a  screen,  but  this  was  tangible.  the  whole  crowd  could  feel  it,  the  way  beatriz  sends  a  nod  of  approval  and  an  encouraging  smile  his  way.  THAT  WAS  SUPPOSED  TO  BE  HONEY'S  ENCOURAGING  SMILE.  and  suddenly,  what  was  supposed  to  be  her  favorite  performance  of  the  night  has  become  one  that's  made  her  feel  sick.  she  can't  even  tell  if  either  of  them  had  started  singing  or  if  the  crowd  had  started  to  react,  too  focused  on  the  pit  in  her  stomach  growing  with  each  passing  second. she'd  almost  made  it  to  the  stage,  but  she's  sure  winston  was  too  focused  on  bea  to  even  notice.  eyes  quickly  glance  down  to  her  hands,  which  had  begun  fidgeting  with  each  other,  before  she  turns  around  and  starts  maneuvering  her  way  away  from  the  stage  and  out  of  the  crowd. CLEARLY  HE  DIDN'T  NEED  HER  THERE.

elias  takes  a  deep  breath,  because  it's  about  all  he  can  do  without  laughing  his  ass  off.  he  leans  closer  to  winnie,  hand  covering  his  mouth  as  if  his  friend  will  catch  him.  “you  know  …  I  BEGGED  HIM  NOT  TO  DO  THIS.”  elias  was  very  prone  to  embarrassment,  both  firsthand  and  secondhand.  he's  trying  really  hard  not  to  cringe  as  he  watches  noah  and  wes  on  that  stage.  “but  he  said  something  about  '  don't  you  believe  in  love  ?!  '  and  i  knew  i  lost  that  argument.”

it's  no  surprise  to  him  that  cooper  doesn't  recognize  any  of  the  names  on  the  program.  he  was  chatty,  but  it  seemed  his  circle  hadn't  extended  as  far  as  it  probably  could  have.  by  this  point,  he  was  a  little  buzzed.  the  best  way  to  enjoy  LIVE  MUSIC  was  when  you  could  truly  lose  yourself  in  it.  he  glances  over  at  the  person  next  to  him.  “okay  …  do  you  know  anyone  on  this  lineup  ?  any  performances  i  must  avoid  ?  i'm  trying  to  have  a  FUN  NIGHT.”

she's  beaming  like  a  proud  mother,  watching  her  brother  on  stage.  hands  are  clasped  in  front  of  her,  half  of  her  face  covered  by  them.  she  catches  movement  out  of  the  corner  of  her  eye  and  catches  nora's  gaze.  she  gestures  for  nora  to  join  her,  smile  bright.  “THAT'S  MY  BROTHER  !”  she  says  over  the  music,  probably  the  loudest  she's  ever  spoken.  it  wasn't  like  nora  had  never  seen  her  brother  before  –  they'd  lived  in  the  same  town  for  over  a  decade.  but,  as  he  was  up  there  on  stage,  she  was  more  than  happy  to  remind  the  world  that  she  was  related  to  such  a  talent.

head  cocks  to  the  side  as  she  watches  the  performance  on  stage,  trying  to  figure  out  how  she  feels  about  it.  venus  was  always  going  to  be  a  fan  of  live  performances,  and  she  knows  just  how  much  work  goes  into  one.  but  this  …  well,  it  sure  was  a  performance  !  she  takes  a  breath,  dreading  the  answer  to  a  question  she  hadn't  asked  yet.  “be  honest  …  IS  THAT  WHAT  JULIAN  AND  I  LOOK  LIKE  ON  STAGE  ?”

SHE'S  FEELING  VERY  NORMAL,  and  that's  evident  in  the  way  she's  biting  at  the  skin  on  her  thumb  –  a  habit  she'd  kicked  over  a  decade  ago  when  she'd  moved  out  of  her  parents'  house.  she's  lucky,  to  not  care  when  she  does  something  that  puts  eyes  on  her.  because,  it  should  surprise  no  one  when  she  almost  collides  with  a  body  in  front  of  her,  this  time  truly  an  accident.  “shit,  sorry,”  she  mumbles,  closing  her  eyes  and  shaking  her  head.  when  she  opens  them,  she  instantly  recognizes  the  man  in  front  of  her.  winston's  roommate.  she's  pretty  sure  winston  mentioned  he  was  a  musician  too  …  “you  playing  tonight  ?”  her  usual  smile  sits  on  her  face  to  mask  EVERYTHING  ELSE  she  was  currently  feeling,  trying  really  hard  to  focus  on  kai.  “need  help  with  anything  ?  i've  got  two  hands  i'm  looking  to  keep  busy  …”  she  jokes,  holding  them  up.  “or  a  friendly  face  you  recognize  in  the  audience  ?  i  can  clap  and  cheer  real  loud  !”  if  she  felt  shame,  she'd  probably  be  embarrassed  at  how  she  was  basically  selling  herself  to  a  man  she  couldn't  have  exchanged  more  than  6  words  with.  but,  she  was  in  desperate  need  for  a  distraction.

“okay,  i  wanted  to  see  you  BEFORE  YOUR  PERFORMANCE  because  i  didn't  want  you  thinking  i  wasn't  here  !!  the  lineup  is  just  crazy  busy  for  me,  for  some  reason.”  it  shouldn't  be  a  surprise  to  honey  that  she's  somehow  surrounded  herself  with  other  performers.  birds  of  a  feather,  or  whatever.  “thank  god  you're  all  on  the  same  stage,  or  else  i'd  really  be  getting  my  cardio  in.”  she  holds  her  hands  out  for  sloane  to  take,  practically  jumping  up  and  down  with  excitement.  “what  do  you  think,  sloaney  ?  one  quick  vocal  warm  up  before  you  go  on  ?”
