What do you wish other drivers on the road knew about hauling horses?
As the summer months come upon us you will see a lot more horse trailers on the road, especially during weekends.
GIVE HORSE TRAILERS SPACE. Don’t drive in our blind spots, don’t tailgate us and DON’T cut us off. We cannot stop on a dime, we cannot whip around a corner at full speed and we especially cannot excel very quickly to get out of your way. We are carrying LIVE CARGO and our best friends on board. These are the reasons we cannot do things like whip around corners, stop on a dime or excel quickly. Horses can loose balance in the trailer. The vehicles we drive and the trailers we haul are HEAVY and as stated, cannot stop as quickly as your Camry or Prius that just cut us off. It’s not my fault nor my problem you’re late for work, an appointment or whatever else. Perhaps you should have left the house earlier. It’s none of my concern you insist on nearly side swiping me because you don’t want to get stuck behind me in the merge line. The world does not revolve around you.
This doesn’t just go for horse trailers. It goes for semi trucks, box trucks and other large trucks and trailers. GIVE US SPACE. For your safety and ours.
PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY, don’t drive under the influence, be patient and courteous. Then, we can all get where we are going SAFELY.
