#pjo show crit #especially with percy bc i his character feels like they're pulling so much from his hoo era to show how much he cares for annabeth #WHICH isn't bad within itself it just feels watered down or forced down your throat so much bc the show often relies a lot on TELLING vs #SHOWING #it's also why percy character feels so vastly different from the source material bc he's NOT the type to outright share how he feels #a lot of that has to do with trauma (like his upbringing that the show handled poorly) and while he does care for others like annabeth he #shows it more through his actions while his interal monolog is him processing everything. i don't mind the percabeth scenes as some of them #are really cute (and i love seeing annabeth/a black girl being loved and cared for) HOWEVER it's very apparent that the show is leaning #towards how most fans already know percabeth are going to get together and are playing around with easter eggs in the show laying the futur #of their relationship thick without adding more groundwork at least to me #bc it's important to note that percy and annabeth were/are friends before they even get together and i really wish the show would give them #a slower pacing for their relationship especially given that the way percy is acting now fits slightly more with ttc version of himself #(eg. how he wanted to fight all the hunters and artemis for not letting him jump after annabeth)#also with the fact that these are 13 year olds like why are they being THAT dramatic especially so early on in the show #*?#it's okay if you don't agree but keep it cute #percy jackson #pjo #also like it feels deeply contradictory to the set up from s1 where he tells annabeth to just be kid (which i already have multiple feelings #about derog) and how she shouldn't have to place her worth on a pedestal/have all this pressure on her....only for s2 percy to keep putting #this pressure on her! like what?#also besides the fact that he would NOT say that ANNABETH wouldn't be down for him doing so either #like she already gets testy whenever presented with the fact that something could bring down olympus and knows it's a possibility percy #could as well so why would she be swooning over him threatening to burn it all down? it doesn't make sense 😭
