So after re-reading/listening to The Return of Doctor Locklear for what is probably the sixth time, I have an important question
What the fuck did Mister Claymore do that put him on Evander's list to begin with?
I have two theories. The current one is that he was abusive towards someone and is possibly in denial about it. Like, it's not impossible. Jeanie Winters spent a majority of her story saying that she "never did anything wrong" and that Evander "must have made a mistake" knowing full well she stabbed a girl to death and stalked three dudes.
My evidence is kinda foggy here, but bare with me.
1. His first instinct upon seeing Evander in person is to... run up and presumably punch him in the face. Like, sure, fight or flight instincts, but that's just... I dunno, most people would either run away or freeze in that instance I feel.
2. I didn't think about it until now, but the "alleged victim" line kinda got my attention. Like, he was clearly charged for something. Something bad enough that Evander decided he needed to kill him. This is the same man who said that, if Jeanie just stuck to stalking or whatever, she'd still be "a rotting piece of trash, but at least she wouldn't be on his radar".
3. I don't have a good enough connection on this one, but Claymore says he's been around shady people or something? Or the "wrong" people? I might be reading too deep, but that could possibly mean he's trying to shift the blame? I dunno, I'm just throwing knives in the dark.
4. "The familiar scent of chloroform.." ...Read that again. The smell of chloroform, to Mister Claymore, is familiar. Why is it familiar? Why would he know that?
Yeah, I'm stuck in this rabbit hole.
