—  THE BACKSTORY.

born and raised right here in eureka, though her parents immigrated to the states two years before her birth, demi comes from a humble family who own a small flower shop in old town named aylin’s (after her mother)

her parents tried their hardest to keep her on the expected path and encouraged her to follow in their footsteps, but she had other plans. following high school demi eventually moved away and pursued a career in journalism, instead.

it absolutely put a strain on their family dynamics and she still harbors a lot of guilt for what she sees as letting them down, but she’s not sorry at the same time? like girl go live your life.

and live she did. after graduating college in NYC, she went all over the country as a young adult to “soul search” and sort out her life / find her sense of self. aka she basically just bummed around with a bunch of other barely legal adults who ate gas station food and drank expensive booze out of solo cups and got themselves into a world of nonsense

case in point? demi eventually found herself one half of whirlwind, beautifully doomed from the start impulsive marriage. things quickly fell apart and she took off seconds before their first anniversary hit. still to this day nobody knows about that secret little husband she once upon a time forgot to divorce. needless to say, her relationships have only gone down hill since then.

ANYWAYS. demi’s career took off after she began to pen a successful column about reconciling her conservative, religious upbringing with the rambling wild child she actually was inside. the one that refused to shrink herself into a predictable, preordained box. from there the sky was the limit. she only left her job and returned v. recently because the shop isn’t doing so well and her father’s health is on a decline. she’s essentially working there again for free and earning money on the side by freelancing for the tribune + various other online outlets.

she thought that’d be the only unpleasant thing she’d have to deal with but SURPRISE. turns out her husband’s here in eureka, now, too, and he wants answers.
