Another Bozza excerpt, this time from Divertissement since I needed the English horn for a gig this weekend. I could seriously play his music all day, he gives me the feels 😭
Since I haven’t posted a more recent recording, here’s the solo I’m working on for my hopefully final level up jury. I was originally going to perform the Vivaldi sonata but I just wasn’t feeling it, so I did a complete change and decided to do the Bozza sonata. The last few months I’ve been discovering his music and I could do an entire recital with the world for oboe/English horn I’ve found. I’m almost tempted to have an extra recital just to do that, so I’m excited to actually work on something of his other than just for fun or the distant future. 🎉💩🦵🏽

so pretty for such a technical piece. I love the melodic section (when time kicks in after all that opening cadenza stuff); it's got that kind of Frenchy expressive style and harmony that really clicks with me. I'll probably end up going with more symphonic articulation on the big, accented, high-register things when I perform this, but I will never get this clean. I'm still not sold on the ending though, it's kinda wanky.
