APOSIMZ by Tsutomu Nihei
I've recently started reading Tower Dungeon and was blown away by the art, paneling, and world building so much, I started looking for other stuff by the same author.
APOSIMZ is an interesting 50ish chapter story that presents an imaginative sci-fi universe filled with automatons and skeletal/bug superhero characters. While the premise and setup are great and the art absolutely wonderful, the storytelling suffers by being often too repetitive and tropey.
Despite setting up an endearing mix of characters and several storylines, the finale is ultimately dissapointing, with many plotpoints remaining unanswered and unclear. It's a shame because the journey was a fun action packed feverdream of biomechanical weirdness.
I can personally imagine an anime adaptation looking sooo cool. Though the last thing this work needs is any more fanservice!
