((Hey Niles! What about a little AU where Ethan, Will and the rest of the band are teachers?? :) ))
DELFE IM CRYING
send me prompts (for any fandom)
âHey,â says Will, dropping down in the seat next to Ethanâs in the staffroom. âItâs still socially unacceptable to fucking deck a bitch, right? Asking for a friend.â
Ethan snorts, pausing in grading an essay. âLet me guess,â he says drily. âMacArthur. Um⌠a pin on your seat.â
Will shakes his head. âNope,â he says darkly, slamming a pile of papers rather aggressively on the table, almost sending Ethanâs coffee flying. âNot a pin. A fart cushion.â
âDid you sit on it?â asks Luther curiously from across the table, looking up from test papers.
âNo,â sighs Will. âThank God. I still wanna deck him.â
âNormally,â says Jane, from Ethanâs other side, where sheâs planning her next Geography class, âIâm very much against corporal punishment in schools. But to you I say, Will, fuck MacArthur, and if you deck him then give him one from me also.â
âIâm gonna kick his punk ass into next week,â begins Will darkly, just as Principle Hunley enters the staffroom.
âBrandt,â he sighs. âWhat have I told you about violence in the classroom?â
âThat itâs a bad idea,â Will answers. âAnd I told you that Iâm just venting, and Iâd rather chop my own arm off before actually hit a student. Did you miss that last part? Sir,â he adds as an afterthought.
Ethan hides a snort into his coffee. Heâs not very successful, going by the thundercloud forming on Hunleyâs face. âYes, I suppose this is very funny to you, Hunt,â hisses the Principle, âseeing as you are a huge fan of gratuitous and entirely unnecessary violence targeted towards innocent individuals.â
âFor the last time,â says Ethan, his mirth rapidly disappearing, âI wasnât the one that keyed your car.â
âI donât believe you,â Hunley tells him squarely. âYouâre lucky I canât prove a thing, because if I could youâd be fired faster than you could say âvandalismâ. All of you,â he adds, eyeing their group with distrust.
âMaybe you canât prove it because he didnât do it,â says Benji indignantly. âEthan would never.â
This time Jane, Will and Luther all cough sarcastically. Ethan glares at them. Hunley pretends not to notice. âOne day,â he threatens them, blustering, âone day I will fire you all, and then I will have peace at this school. My hair is turning prematurely gray, and itâs all because of you.â
âAre you sure itâs prematurely gray?â asks Will innocently. âI mean, youâre much closer to sixty than you are to fifty. Sir.â
There is a silence, stretched and apprehensive. A vein is throbbing in Hunleyâs temple, and he is red in the face. Just as Ethanâs sure the man is going to explode, Hunley exerts some superhuman control over himself and turns around, stalking out of the room and muttering under his breath.
âWell,â exhales Benji, when heâs sure Hunley is out of earshot. âThat went well.â
Will snorts. âWish I could say the same about my class. Did you know Roberts referred to Alexander the Great as âAlex Da Gr9â in his essay? And she also wrote, and I quote,â the expression on Willâs face is of distaste mixed with grudging respect, ââAlex was super bi and into fucking dudes and chicks, but his main man was Hephaestion aka Sex on Legs. His side hoes didnât like that, so they killed him. Alex was so sad he died.ââ
He looks up from the essay to find everyone in the general vicinity looking at him with identical expressions of stunned disbelief. âYeah,â he says drily. âI gave her a B for historical accuracy if nothing else.â
Luther is the first to speak. âAmazing,â he says. âAmazing. Iâm fucking inspired, I really am.â
âYou would be,â sighs Will. âAnyway, itâs still much much better than MacArthurâs essay, which was basically the words âALEX WAS GAY AS FUCKâ written in red sharpie in the middle of the page. Thatâs it. Literally. Nothing else.â
âWell,â says Jane after a moment. âHeâs not wrong, per se.â
âAlex- I mean, Alexander, wasnât gay,â points out Will. âHe was bisexual.â
âCan I confess something?â says Ilsa, speaking for the first time since Will entered the room. When sheâs sure theyâre all looking at her, she smiles a very pure and innocent smile and says, âIâm the one who keyed Hunleyâs car.â
Ethan groans and drops his head on the desk, even as everyone else starts laughing.
