Wade will throw on the History channel for the hell of it when Laura is over- well half to help her catch up on History because noone taught that poor girl anything- and sometimes Logan will say he recognizes someone in old films.
The two never know if he's telling the truth or not, and they've even started betting to see if Logan is telling the truth.
"That poor bastards got shot in the nut. He lived but was stuck with the nickname Peanut Free."
Their minds are fucking blown anytime Logan does appear in the background of old WW1 and WW2 documentaries. They make a drinking game out of it.
Logan is always smug with a "I fucking told you."
He also fucks with them when they've believed his shit for too long.
"What they don't tell you, we spent 18 days listening to one motherfucker play the bagpipes badly. Noone knows how he snuck the bagpipes to the front lines, but fuck did we hear them. The true horrors of war."
sorry for not liveblogging tmagp anymore gang i kind of like. forgot. and just started reading the transcripts
Wanderstop asks: Favorite character and why? Or favorite tea monologue (can be from anyone, not just Alta or Boro)
I don't have a favourite tea monologue perse. I DO enjoy Nana's monologue to Alta about Monster though - how the kid needs someone to steer her in the right direction and she listens to Alta and that's a responsibility that shouldn't be taken lightly. I think I like it because Alta sees herself in Monster and I also do, in a way. We become the people that would've saved us when nobody else did and all that.
Very basic answer, I am so sorry! But my favourite character is actually Alta. Wanderstop is amazing in the way it can fit SO many interpretations so obviously everyone takes what they need to from this game. But for me, her journey symbolises burn out, which I have struggled with, a lot.
Possibly what moves me more, though, is that it is also an amazing analogy for becoming disabled and ESPECIALLY the first few chapters. I have a bunch of minor conditions and the one that impacts me the most is Ehler Danlos Syndrome (try to say that three times fast, Jesus), which in my case comes with mobility issues, chronic fatigue, chronic pain and other nice issues that began to rare their ugly heads when I was 17. Like Alta, I was a fighter (Tae Know Do, not sword fighting but alas) and then suddenly- I can't get five minutes through a training session without needing to sit down and try very hard not to pass out. Suddenly walking is hard. Suddenly something hurts all the time. Suddenly I feel weak. Alta couldn't leave the forest no matter how hard she tried, no matter how much endurance training she'd had she just can't run that far. Alta can't pick up the sword that's been with her for YEARS and she has never felt it being heavy, let alone unmovable before. Alta gets a splitting migraine upon even thinking about leaving that place. Alta passes out when she tries to train with Ren.
Alta is forced to rest, something she hates because it makes her feel stuck, hindered. She is forced to come to terms with the fact who she is in the current moment doesn't align with who she had been and that might disappoint some people, that some people might not understand she *physically* cannot do what she wants to do (the WHOLE arc with Ren killed me. It feels exactly like trying to explain to a family member that no, you are not rotting in bed because you want to, you physically, literally have no energy to spare for anything else and you do not *choose* to be sick). Alta is forced to reconsider and re contextualise her very identity. Alta needs to learn her new limits. And all of this resonates with me. The ever-present grief of losing control over your body resonates with me. Obviously that's only one aspect of her story, I love her struggles with trauma, guilt and healing not being a linear narrative, I love her saving her inner child, I love her learning to just be. But also, Alta took my hand and said "You aren't alone" and Boro took my hand and said "It's okay to rest" and I genuinely think this game is one of the things that helped me come to terms with my new situation.
Currently thinking of Minthara. I miss my wife
