This is my current desk set up. Today I am essay planning and typing up quotes. Wondering how other English students go about writing their essays? Mine and my friends essay processes are very different!

{ Discourse module essay: planning and structuring }

I have started creating a basic skeleton draft that acts as a backbone of my essay. It includes the key issues I have come up while  mind-mapping, which was one of the activities. I have also listed texts, research articles for main paragraphs, I would like to use. I’m awaiting for tutor feedback at the moment, after I received the feedback I can then further develop this essay plan and should have a more structured outline of the basic argument for my essay by week 4. I’m slightly concerned regarding the following points:

Accuracy of research data/ chapters (Should I narrow down my chain of paragraphs and focus on more specific issues?)

Structure of essay, overall academic writing (Is my essay well organized into sections?)

The essay is rather descriptive according to this current plan. I need to develop arguments to make it a powerful argumentative essay. I have collected and listed the texts, articles (not all listed in the previous bibliographic citation, I have conducted a further study in order to be able to write a thesis on my subject) I will use for each chapter but I’m not sure I have a central argument, only a description of the subject area. I know it’s essential to present two sides of an issue and chapters require judgement. The only key issue I could focus on to argue about is comparison. Comparing which graphic elements are more influential when it comes to communicating luxury, comparing luxury high end alcohol packages and find out which are the ones consumers prefer therefore most effective.

Hola! Hasn’t it been a dreadful while since I’ve needed to throw rubber ball ideas at a wall, only to catch them again in my mouth and gobble them  up to create my strange creations I call ‘work’ and ‘essays’? 

It has, hasn’t it? ;)

New problem my friends- it’s a ‘Research and Criticism’ essay. In a short summary, the subject of ‘Research and Criticism’ is basically the philosophy and historical background of the artful battle of writing, writers and the book! (Charming way to look at at it eh? Ehhhhhh?)

All of these essays/short stories are honestly wonderful! I could see the little lead my uni wanted me to follow; throwing around completely different writers, killing off the author and having us respond to that, then bringing the concept of the author back to life and putting it into a gender boxing ring! Amazing! :)

 I have been loving every second of my classes in this module YET here I am, Christmas break and about to attack the essay that is submitted for this module the week I get back....AND I WANT TO IMPRESS MY LOVELY TUTOR SO SO MUCH ^_^

I’m writing a essay responding to my week 8 reading ‘Shooting an Elephant’ by George Orwell and focusing it on how ‘text’ means ‘to weave’ in Latin.

I do have a plan, sitting next to me right now on my desk and I have this shadowy ghosting feeling in my head of the extra reading and reference material I want to use, however I feel like I need a good old blogging shout to literally get all this planning fully out....so, lets do this!

Seminar with Carol

After today’s seminar I have a very good idea of what I’m going to write my essay on. Until now I had been a bit unsure on my theme of ‘machine’ and how I would find a current affair relating to it. However after discussing ideas with the group and gaining a better understanding I chose my topic.

'How machines have lead to unemployment'
