Thinking about Reality Trip and how Danny had his parents forget that he was Phantom even though they accepted him. Danny knows his parents love him, but he’s not ready for things to change. He’s not ready to upset the careful balance of normalcy he’s been working so so hard to maintain.
And I’m just thinking about the angst potential of, what if he’s never ready? What if their love isn’t enough? Because as much as they would do anything for their kids, they haven’t put in the groundwork to have their kids’ trust?
When Jazz found out, she understood Danny’s needs better than he himself could explain them. She kept his secret, and kept even the fact that she knew it a secret until he needed her. She’s another Fenton child, and her relationship with their parents is arguably more strained because she‘a the older one. Their parents made all their mistakes with her first, with no one to act as a buffer.
What if Danny’s parents find out, again and again and again, but each time their memory is erased.
What if Danny doesn’t tell his parents until well after he’s moved out? (Or maybe he means to tell them once he’s independent and has the space but he just keeps putting it off?)
