And at this point Lena knows that it shouldn’t surprise her that so many people love her girlfriend, but still when she answers the door one evening to an older woman with graying hair and a pizzeria t-shirt, Lena can’t help but be a little thrown.

“Oh, hello there! Where’s Kara?” The woman smiles up at Lena, juggling several boxes of pizza.

Lena looks at her, brows furrowed, before she catches sight of some change clipped next to the door with a sticky note labeled ‘For Bev.’

“She’s, uh, still in the shower. Just got off work,” Lena offers, grabbing the bills and turning the note towards the woman. “I’m guessing you’re Bev?”

“Oh, that girl is always so sweet to me.” A fond smile stretches across her face as she accepts the generous tip and hands over the pizza boxes. “And you must be Lena,” the woman says, with a chuckle and a knowing look, eyeing the NCU hoodie Lena had just stolen from Kara’s closet.

“How did you…”

“Oh Kara talks about you frequently. Glad to finally meet the woman who captured her heart.” Lena would almost class Bev’s smile as mischievous as she winks.

“O-oh. Uh—“ Lena stumbles over her words, as she readjusts the pizzas in her arms.

“Here,” Bev says, adding a container of garlic bread that Kara definitely didn’t order to the top of the pile. “You have a good night, hun, and tell Kara I said hi.”
