Internally Redan laughed at Maxwell's suggestion. 'Doing something stupid' was a key item on Redan's resume, as coming to Greycliff evidenced. That said, he wasn't so dumb as to shout 'screw you' and run off.

Character Types You Should Consider: People Smugglers
Escova has laws to restrict the number of refugees entering the country each year! That doesn't stop people from trying to disembark at the island nation, though. The war on the Mainland is still going strong after all these years, and people have taken to smuggling refugees from the Mainland to Escova for a high price. With the option to write in both Escova and the mainland port city of Qandyr, a smuggler could enjoy plotting opportunities in both locations! Think of all the connections your character could have-- from refugee characters to criminals of Qandyr, businessmen, soldiers, and angry Escovan nobles. Perhaps your smuggler would be a social justice warrior, hoping to grant safety to those barred from entering Escova. Maybe he/she is just greedy and wants to take advantage of the needy people willing to pay for safe passage. It's up to you! For an extra layer of fun, make a smuggler from the Mainland. You can create a cultural background for your character and share the details of his/her homeland with the rest of us in our new Mainland Civilization documentation thread! There are lots of niches waiting to be filled. Join us! escova.b1.jcink.com escova.b1.jcink.com escova.b1.jcink.com
Overview: The monastics, those living in monasteries, of Pryism lead a unique lifestyle. The monasteries throughout the Islands of Escova and the scattered mainland settlements which follow the Pryist religion operate much like separate communities of spiritual learning and scholarly education. The initiates who are on the path toward becoming priests or priestesses spend years at a monastery (or multiple monasteries) learning the ways of the spirits. Those who merely wish to be educated in the many ways of the world also seek education in these places, as schools and universities do not exist. In addition to serving as places of education, monasteries typically also carry out businesses of book-making and copying, herd-raising, and other important tasks. . . Click the link to learn more!

Open Thread: Heads Up!
Soraya hummed a lullaby song to herself, and her plants. Her rooftop was covered in boxes and pots of plants and herbs. She tried leaving space for her renter to use, but her horticultural paraphernalia always seemed to encroach into the free space like ivy. And, in fact, there was a real ivy branch snaking it's slow way toward the empty corner. She puttered about her boxes, watering the plants that needed water and ignoring the ones that didn't. With deep breaths she could tell which were healthy or ready for plucking. And some just smelled really, really nice. There were some boxes on the roof full of nothing but pretty flowers. Pim the cat lounged on the edge of the rooftop wall, fast asleep. Soraya scratched the cat on the head as she passed, and the cat purred and stretched. He rolled over to show his belly for scratchies, and managed to stay on the wall, but in doing so he nudged a small pot of aloe off instead. "Ah!" Soraya rushed over. "Look out!" she shrieked to the passing people below.

Aiden rolled his eyes. "Yes, I can just imagine her filling a scroll with Ms. Astraea Dax and covering it in wee little hearts."
