-Kiss of Life:

Kiss of Life was Ilia’s first technique when he was still alive (in my JJK Swap Universe). 

This technique involved the user kissing their opponent (much to Ilia’s disdain) in order to stun and read their minds.

An advantage of using this technique was the enhancing kisses. Kissing body parts, people, or even weapons could boost their attack or durability for a small time. 

I didn’t really think of a downside for this technique, but I think a good one would be that Ilia needs to hold his breath or breath very softly to keep the enhancement or stun going. So if he is out of breath and starts to rapidly breathe, he ends up losing the enhancements that his kisses did.

I think his maximum would be why his technique is named Kiss of Life. He has the ability to bring someone back to life with his kiss, but the downside is that it will almost kill him if he is not careful. He has to give every single bit of oxygen in his lungs and then some in order to revive someone. If he takes too long or hesitates, he could end up suffocating himself trying to bring back someone else. 

-Puppetry:

Once Ilia died, he was reborn in the OG JJK world as a cursed spirit (or vengeful spirit? One of them). His technique Kiss of Life had morphed into Puppetry. 

Similar to how he could get some control and stun an enemy with Kiss of Life, now Ilia could gain full control of people using strings instead of a kiss. Though he can actually turn his saliva into strings, so kissing someone and planting a bunch of strings in them is a midpoint between Kiss of Life and Puppetry.

His upper left arm (the one with two hands) can dig into the back of humans and control them like a puppet. Since he is in his curse form, most people can’t see him and so can get tricked by this technique into coming over to him. He is also able to steal people’s voices which I think would happen when he uses his tongue to infect people with strings.

For the most part, he acted like a regular curse for a long time before he played around some more with his puppet strings. From there, he was able to realize his past life and worked on trying to get back his old body.

It was thanks to Puppetry that he was able to change his soul around, and make a heavenly bind to allow himself to change his body (which gave both forms the ability to change body parts using strings). Which also granted both forms the ability to use the ability Weave.

I don’t think that his cursed form has a maximum technique, or possibly that is what he gave up in order to create his human form with a binding vow.

-Strings of Fate:

This is the most thought out of the techniques I have for Ilia. First because it was the first real technique I thought of for him, but also because he has been in this form for so long he played and perfected his technique over time.

Instead of having cursed energy, life force, or a soul, he instead becomes a conduit for the cursed energy around him. He doesn’t create the strings himself, instead he takes it from the world and uses it to his advantage. Because of this, people like Gojo, Toji, Mahito, and Hanami can’t sense Ilia as a person, only the cursed energy he is bending.

Weave: Other than the strings themselves, this ability is the most basic of the technique. Ilia is able to use the threads of life and cursed energy around him to create things. Usually it is weapons, but he can push the ability further to weave together souls (this is a version of Maximum: Kiss of Life). 

The only problem with this is that Ilia needs a few strands from the person who is dead, otherwise he can’t recreate their souls and revive them. It is hard to get a string from someone or something that is dead, so the next best solution is to go to the person who killed them, or the item used to kill them, and take a string remnant to use to weave a soul back to life.

Ocular Strands: Ilia’s ability to see the strings of life all around him. He can read people’s history and lives using this ability. The closer he is, the easier it is to see. Sometimes he has to be right up on the person or thing to get a clear picture. (He can use this ability with his eyes closed). One of his favorite things to do is go up to trees and put his head against the bark to read the stories that they tell.

Stitching/Stitch: (I forgot to draw this one) This is where Ilia takes his strings and just stitches things together. It’s kind of an offshoot of Weave except he is not creating something, instead temporarily fusing things together. Because this is not his own cursed energy, he can use it to heal others, both humans and curses. It is easy for him to make strands positive or negative. 

He can also stitch himself to others if wanted to. Think of how Franken Stein from Soul Eater has Soul Thread Sutures, and that is basically how stitching can work. He stitches himself to people to keep contact with them which helps with other abilities.

Another facet of this ability is the self heal properties. Almost any real damage Ilia takes can be healed immediately by Stitching. If Sukuna or anyone tried to cut his head off, Stitching would immediately heal the wound before it became a death sentence.

Intertwine: Ilia is able to intertwine his body with another person’s soul, effectively making himself a voodoo doll. Any damage that happens to him will also happen to the person intertwined with. Contact needs to be maintained either by a string or direct contact. Simple strings can be easily broken and physical contact can be pushed away. The best way for Ilia to keep sure that contact is consistent is to temporarily stitch himself to his opponent.

Blocking: An offshoot of Stitching is Blocking. Here the strings weave together a barrier that can be inside a person or outside in the general area.

If inside a person, it stops any cursed energy from crossing it. So let’s say that one of Hanami’s cursed buds were on your hand, Blocking at the wrist or elbow would effectively stop the bud from ever growing. The downside is that now there is NO cursed energy at all in that hand. There is no heavenly restriction either so upi don’t get a boost from losing your cursed energy.

If outside in the general area, Blocking can be used as a shield. In this regard it is combining Weave and Stitch together to create a shield out of strings. Think of it as just a woven sheet that will stop cursed energy from coming through. The downside is it takes a lot of energy out of the area meaning you need a lot of people or cursed spirits around to use this ability.

Maximum: Ilia’s maximum technique (I don’t have a name for it at the moment) is an arrow of strings that he makes using all cursed energy and life force around him. It draws from absolutely everything, even the opponent,  in order to make a very powerful arrow.

Once shot, it pierces straight through the opponent and gets even stronger now that it is stealing all the cursed energy and life force from that person and leaving a trail of strings back towards Ilia’s hand.

The arrow stops going forward and starts to spin around, connecting its own strings to that of the person it just impaled. It continues to spin until the person is completely crushed and unwoven within the small diameter of the initial string.

Ilia then is able to draw the string back and absorb the person’s strings. The downside of this technique is that Ilia has to use all the strings he absorbed before he can start taking from the world again. 

So usually using this technique will actually harm Ilia if he has to keep fighting because none of his attacks or defenses will be as strong as before since he is relying on a limited amount of cursed energy. This is why he only uses this technique if it’s a last resort or if there is only one person left, because leaving that window of opportunity open for the enemy is not something he can just risk doing.
