me, sobbing: please, hozier. i beseech you to consider the plight of us mortal musicians.
this musical madman, raised in the great halls of the daoine sídhe, fingers blessed with the gifts of the good people: sooner would i perish than write two songs in the same tuning
Witchcraft book review, because it's Time To Give Opinions:
Just finished reading Lee Morgan’s A Deed Without A Name: Unearthing the Legacy of Traditional Witchcraft.
This book provides what is hands down one of my favorite takes on what witchcraft has historically meant. His definition is, of course, not the only valid definition of witchcraft or even of traditional witchcraft, but it’s remarkable for its cohesiveness, its usefulness, and the quality of the historical data that supports it. He touches on everything from pacts, hedge crossing, riding, second skins, demon and fairy lovers, familiars, the concept of the sabbat through time, and ‘the witch’ as someone who exists uniquely outside the world of the living, and he connects folklore and historical attestation to modern testimony. He also gives some pretty stellar practical guides for performing the kind of witchcraft he discusses. This book has some of the best, most comprehensible and illuminating explanations for what these experiences actually look and feel like that I’ve ever encountered.
I am not a witch, but my experience being claimed by a goddess who teaches magic deeply resonates with the process Morgan describes of being selected and taught magic by an Otherworldly agent. Even if you’re not interested in doing the things the book describes, I strongly recommend reading it. As with literally any book on witchcraft, don’t take Morgan’s word as the sole truth, but that being said there’s a lot for anyone to learn from.

tag game: attach gifs of your favorite tv shows without naming them, then tag 10 people to do the same.
Eeehhhhhh *shrug*?? I had to stretch to get this far. There are other shows I like, but they aren't "favorites". These are what I can watch (and In some cases have watched) repeatedly. 'Cause I don't really do tv, whether broadcast or streaming. Podcasts, YouTube, and books/audiobooks are what I spend my time on. But! Here's my list nonetheless

teenage me: i wonder why i'm straight and cis but only have one cis, straight friend, and why i only feel comfortable among queer people, and why i love shopping from the "women's" section for a decent portion of my clothing, and why men are attractive sometimes, and why i feel so distant from my body and emotions, and why my conceptualization of my own being feels so deeply alien and unreal, and why i constantly talk about what i would do and feel "if" i weren't straight and "if" i weren't cis, and–
present me, emotionally attempting to stare my past self in the face and shake them by the collar: you doofus. you dork. you absolute buffoon. i love you but please spend two seconds listening to a single word you're saying and learn even a shred of self-acceptance.
Reminder that Freyr's reaction to seeing a giant woman with beautiful arms was to become so deeply consumed by his feelings of longing that he refused to leave his room, and both his dad and his servant/childhood buddy had to confront him about it.
In doing this, great Freyr gave us one of the Biggest Moods in all of Norse myth.
