Another relationship that I really thought a lot about. I know Xiao Jun and Qiao are end game, but Pao was something else. Can you imagine somebody standing by you in your lowest troughs? Pao and Qiao may have been one of the most beautiful surprises of the film, but I appreciated that kind of presence. Xiao Jun and Qiao’s dalliance were going to end inevitably. As all star-crossed tragedies go, Xiao Jun and Qiao meet and part, several times in the film. Encounters with other people similarly reflect real life circumstances. Chances are, when you part ways with an important figure, you’ll meet other prominent ones. Pao was a really prominent person in Qiao’s life, no matter how long while their end dragged on.
