The thing that shits me with the novel, Lolita, is that everyone missed the point of the book. Its not about glorifying p*dos, if you read it - the main charecter is a monster named Humbert who can't see he's a monster and keeps justifying his bullshit to himself.
Nobakov was actually disgusted that so many predators used it to romanticise p*dophilia, when that wasn't why he wrote it.
I always think its telling, when someone quotes Lolita like how epstein did to sound intellectual cause you just look dumb to me; you missed the whole point of the book. If anyone romanticises Lolita around you rather than the actual context of the book, its a huge tell. Take note.
Seriously, the last bit of the book is Lolita meeting with Humbert when shes older and essentially telling him that she recognises why he dated her mother and that she recognises he was grooming her after her mums death and pretty much tells him to leave her alone and runs out. Than its just delulu humbert talking his shit to himself (romanticising it - cause he's a monster) about how he knows he'll never see her again.
It's not a love story.
Its so weird to me that people will read it and ignore the actual story.
