Haven't seen any discussion on here about how JK Rowling portrayed people with chronic illnesses ("spoonies") in the Ink Black Heart, and it surprised me. This article by Alicia Hendley says it all excellently, I've grabbed two screenshots, but it's definitely worth reading it in its entirety. In the book, the distinction gets made between characters with real, legitimate, visible disabilities (such as Strike) and those with invisible, chronic, implied fake/exaggerated illnesses (like Kea). The description of Kea's bio and tags on her tumblr account were there for ridicule. It saddened me that the chronic illness community has been represented in this way, though it has not surprised me at all, especially coming from JKR.

For a long time I’ve thought that it sucks that JKR has been radicalised against transgender people and is now a major problem to them. But I’ve hoped that one day she will come to her senses.
Then I read more critique about the Harry Potter books, and realised that she was always problematic.
And I thought it was shitty that fantastic beasts didn’t look like it was going to acknowledge Dumbledore being gay, skipping out on representation.
But today, seeing (on a post that I now can’t find) that she supports homophobic people is just worse than I ever imagined.

And my first thought was “no, no Dumbledore is gay, JKR can’t support homophobes” but then the logic kicked in. Dumbledore, the only declared by her to be gay character, the one time we see him in love it contributes to the ideology of wizard Hitler, his family is destroyed, he realises he can’t be trusted with power, and then goes onto manipulate and misuse Harry, a child, and turning out to actually be a very questionable figure.
He never has a happy romance, his love is only damaging.
God damn it.
