On My Own- Mulan Style
'On My Own' Video with Mulan as Eponine (because Lea Salonga.....) It's not perfect but for a first video I am particularly proud!
Tribute to Nani
After listening to some music from "The InBetween" I decided to make this video which I think really suits Nani from "Lilo and Stitch". I've never heard a song that has made me think of her so much. She really deserves more credit than she is given
Expect the Unexpected
(I wrote this last year for Valentine's Day but i thought "Hey why not post it again and spread the love". Hope you enjoy!)
The area surrounding him was noisy as Enjolras paced up and down the room in anxious anticipation. Truth be told, when he woke up earlier that morning this is not what he had seen coming for him in the near future. If it were up to him today would have gone exactly as he planned, everything would have worked out perfectly and every detail would have been accounted for, of course he never planned on nature getting in the way…..
***********
It was early evening, the sun was just beginning to disappear over the horizon, turning the sky into a vivid orange with streaks of yellow and red painting the canvas. From the window one could see street vendor calling out prices and selling large arrays of flowers, speakers booming with sweet music, couples walked down hand in hand, and children ran around with chocolate covered faces and mouths full of candy. The world outside seemed so peaceful and content, love filling the air; the inside of the townhouse to which that window belonged to painted a much different story.
Enjolras scurried up and down through his living room and kitchen of his- no their- townhouse, his compulsive need for perfection preventing him from doing anything differently. While on the outside the young man looked completely unaffected, his head and heart were racing with nerves. He paced up and down as he checked to make sure everything was just how it was supposed to be, he would accept no mistakes, especially since they would have been his fault entirely and he couldn’t have that, especially on today of all days.
Running and hand through his hair Enjolras checked his watch and decided to make one last round to check up on everything. He walked over to the stereo, making sure for the tenth time that Swan Lake was playing softly, he was lucky enough to find someone that also loved CD’s despite the rest of the world turning to iTunes, and the food on the table was hot and ready- chicken marinara with garlic bread and ceasar salad, ginger ale to drink, and red velvet cake for desert- and the red tablecloths were folded to perfection to create the perfect table setting. Enjolras knew having red table settings would come in handy, despite what his girlfriend said- sure he had to sleep on the couch the night they fought over that but it was worth it, well no it really wasn’t but he was never going to let her know that. Looking at his watch once again, Enjolras took a deep breath and attempted to calm his nerves down. Being nervous wasn’t going to help him in the least bit, and certainly not now. He had big plans for the night but they would only work if he kept his composure.
The date was February 14th, Valentine’s Day, and while love was in the air for many, others found it full of frustration. To Enjolras this day had always been nothing more than a Hallmark holiday; a way for the gift card stores and markets to con money out of innocent people. He chuckled fondly at the memory of last Valentine’s Day and the little debate he had with Jehan.
Enjolras was seated at his usual table in the Cafe Musain, only he was much more annoyed than usual. Normally the other amis would have been there as well but it seemed like everyone else had plans. Combeferre was out spending the day with his girlfriend, Marius and Cosette were off on some dinner, Grantaire and Courfeyrac decided to scout bars for some ‘love’, and Enjolras could only guess where everyone else was. This happened every Valentine’s day, or St. Patrick’s Day or any holiday where the Cafe was overly decorated in a monochromatic color palette and the place was flooded by people wanting to get their hands on the newest holiday themed treat the cafe had in store; this time it was Raspberry Lattes and heart shaped cookies with cherry filling. All day all Enjolras heard was non stop chatter about who was taking who out that night, things people had planned, anniversaires, hook-ups, chick-flicks, jewelry, and proposals, it was enough to make him sick. “Oh don’t you just love Valentine’s Day!?” exclaimed Jehan as he plopped down next to Enjolras, seemingly in a trance.
Enjolras rolled his eyes, “Oh yea, the empty promises, meaningless sex, and desperate gifts. What’s not to love?”
Jehan pouted in annoyance, not happy with someone disregarding his favorite holiday like that.
“Well aren’t you just a big bowl of love.” sneered a rough voice from nearby.
Both men turned their heads to see none other than Eponine sitting in an armchair across from them, her feet propped up on the armrest, reading a book- a tattered copy of Tale of Two Cities. While her eyes were completely on the book her lips were tilted up in a playful smirk and the way she flipped each page of her book was almost taunting.
“Well hello to you too Eponine.” greeted Enjolras plainly.
“Oh I can just feel the sincerity in your voice.”
“Is it necessary for you to taunt me?”
“Well I find it very entertaining.” She teased as she turned another page in the book. “Especially since today is Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year, and apparently also the day you hate the most. Not surprising considering you are made of stone.”
Enjolras scoffed, “Can you really blame me? It’s Valentine’s Day.”
Jehan chimed in, “Exactly, the day of love and relationships! What’s not to like?”
“What’s to love?” answered Enjolras coldly.
“It’s mostly red.” Eponine answered, “And lord knows how much you love red.”
“It was a rhetorical question Ep!” he snapped, “There is no meaning for Valentine’s Day. All it is, is a day for people to get present, and yell at people if they don’t get what they want. Not to mention its also a day for those who feel lonely to complain and mope around all day. That’s not exactly what I call a good holiday.”
Eponine giggled, “Like I said, big bundle of love.”
“No, you said bowl of love.”
“Oh put a sock in it Enjolras, at least I have a heart.”
Enjolras raised an eyebrow, “Are you saying I don’t?”
“Only someone without a heart could ever hate Valentine’s Day.”
“I don’t hate it, I just don’t see the point of it.”
Eponine rolled her eyes and scuffed before turning back to her ink filled pages.
“Who is the girl that broke your heart and made you so bitter?”
“I don’t see you spending Valentine’s day with a special someone.” Enjolras commented bitterly
“Hey, I may be alone but I am alone and free.”
“By choice or by default?”
“Oh that’s it!” Eponine snapped before throwing her legs down in anger and standing up to confront Enjolras.
Jehan watched helplessly, yet eagerly, as Eponine and Apollo bickered mercilessly about everything and anything they could relate to this day. It started off with Enjolras being an emotionless statue, to Eponine being too temperamental, to other meaningless holidays, took a detour to the topic of irritating colors, then to how men and women are stereotypes from birth and somehow moved to photoshopping and ads, followed by marketing and the stupidity they both believed was in it, and finally made a full 360 to pointless products and Valentine’s day. The bickering- or as Jehan liked to call it, heated debates- continued on for quite a while and it somehow ended up with Eponine challenging Enjolras, her face inches from his. Jehan sat at the edge of his seat, waiting and praying that Cupid’s arrow would finally-
In that moment Enjolras reached up the few inches between him and Eponine to close the gap between them. Eponine gasped as she felt Enjolras lips press against hers. However within moments she was responding to him and returning the kiss with equal fervor. To most it would have been an extremely surprising moment, but to Jehan it was about time. Within the next few minutes Enjolras and Eponine’s kiss died down, but the passion in their eyes never did. The two of them stared at each other, panting deeply, as if trying to grasp what just occurred between them. While they had known each other for awhile, neither of them had ever expected this- of course many others had been waiting for this since the first time Eponine thrown a cookie at Enjolras forehead, in his defense he wasn’t aware of Eponine’s love of the old children’s movies Quest for Camelot and Anastasia. Soon they were getting up and running down the street to do what Jehan could only guess- but by the look of lust on their faces it wasn’t exactly difficult to guess. Fair to say Valentine’s Day found a new meaning to Enjolras after that day.
“Enjolras!? Honey I’m home!” called Eponine, bringing Enjolras out of his flashback.
“In here baby!” He replied as he closed the kitchen cabinet.
Eponine walked into the kitchen and Enjolras smiled at the sight of her. As she shrugged off her coat her baby bump came into view, making Enjolras’ heart flutter. A year after getting together with his fiery Eponine, she was nine months pregnant and glowing. Pregnancy was doing her wonders, other than the morning sickness and hormones everything was going swimmingly.
Eponine looked around the dining room in awe as she noted each and everything Enjolras had done. The table was set for two, there were fresh candles in the candelara, the good silverware was out, the smell of garlic bread and chicken filled the air while the sounds of Swan Lake fluttered into her ears.
“Enj?” She gasped in awe, “What’s all this?”
Enjolras grinned, “Well it’s Valentine’s Day and I thought it would be a good idea to do something nice today. I figured you wouldn’t want to go out since you are about to burst…”
Eponine chuckled, “You know me so well.”
“Well I would hope so, especially since you are carrying our child.”
Eponine giggled and sat down at the table. Enjolras had never been the romantic type, making his efforts all the more special. It wasn’t just the dinner she walked in on, though she did have to admit she wasn’t expecting it and it made her feel all bubbly on the inside- she blamed pregnancy hormones for her heightened sensitivity. From early that morning he had been acting out of the usual, not that she was complaining.
Earlier that morning Eponine had woken up to a red rose lying on her nightstand and Enjolras watching her fondly while he brushed a hand over her side.
“Good morning.” he said warmly
“Hey…..” She yawned as she stretched her arms over her head, “Is that rose for me?”
“Well you are the only girl who lives here.”
“Don’t be so cheeky.” She warned, her eyes narrowing playfully
Enjolras let out a hearty chuckle and kissed her nose. “I love you too.”
Eponine rolled her eyes and shifted to rest her head on Enjolras’ chest. “To think, a year ago I never would have expected you to say that to anyone, let alone me.”
“Well a year ago I didn’t have you to wake up to.” He said as he kissed her head, and placed a hand on her bulging stomach, “and we didn’t have a baby on the way.”
Eponine smiled at him as she placed her hands on top of his, “No we didn’t.”
Sparing a quick glance at her, Enjolras reached over to the nightstand and grabbed the rose. He kissed Eponine’s cheek before handing her rose and brushing her hair back. “Eponine Thenardier, will you be my Valentine?”
“Well Aiden Enjolras,” She chirped, “I would love to.” Eponine sniffed the rose for a few seconds before reaching up to kiss him deeply. Her hands found the back of his hair while Enjolras’ found their way around Eponine’s arms. Her baby bump made it harder to go any farther.
“So how much longer before you have to go to work?” He asked, kissing her shoulder.
“Two hours.” She replied with a sigh, “If it was up to me I wouldn’t be working today but I’m leaving on maternity leave soon and they really need me there.”
Enjolras sighed, “Well what can you do?”
“Not much I guess.”
“We can do something later tonight then.” Enjolras stated automatically
Eponine snuggled closer to him, “That sounds nice, but can we please stay home.”
“Of course, but why?”
“Because I am 30 pounds heavier, I have to pee every five seconds, and my ankles are twice their normal size. I would just like to stay home for the night. Is that ok?”
“It’s fine with me love. Whatever you want.”
Eponine let out a loud laugh, “Dear God what have I done to you?”
“I don’t know, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing.”
“Oh trust me, it’s not.” She whispered, pulling him into another kiss….
Back in present time, Enjolras took a seat across from Eponine. His wild curls were still prevalent on his head but they seemed to be tamed a bit, and his vivid eyes stared at her with a deep passion. The way he stared at her seemed to be both loving and conflicting at the same time, almost as if he was planning something and debating when to do it.
“Hey babe.” She greeted, “Happy-”
“You look lovely,” He interrupted, “How was work?”
“Um… It was fine…” She said hesitantly
“Well that’s good.” He answered with a nod.
The timer in the kitchen went off and in a flash Enjolras was up getting the food.
“Do you need any help babe?” She asked, starting to get up from her seat
“No its ok!” He called out, “I’ll be out in a minute.”
“If you say so…..”
Within a few moments Enjolras returned to the table with a platter of food of his making. He nervously set it down and licked his lips. Wiping beads of sweat off his brow, he sat back down across from Eponine, trying his best to keep his nerves in check. He placed a hand on top of his pants pocket, making sure he could feel the small object he bought was still there. Today was the day he was finally going to do it, he was going to ask Eponine to marry him. While they had only been together a year, they had known each other almost four. Their first ‘I love you’ was actually the day she told him she was pregnant.
That day- June 5th- Eponine had come to him trembling in the middle of night, a pregnancy test clutched in her hand. A scared Eponine was something rare, a thing not many had seen. She was so confused that day and went from crying to yelling at him, to punching various things around his apartment. That all stopped the second he blurted out he loved her, after that she admitted she felt the same and the two of them had spent the rest of the night celebrating in his room, thanking God that Combeferre was out that night. While the beginning had been rocky, within the next few months the two of them went to check ups, purchased baby supplies, moved in together- at the expense of Combeferre moving in with Courfeyrac- and turned the spare room into a baby wonderland. All that time had lead up to the moment Enjolras knew was coming.
Eponine gave him a small smile as she cut into her chicken. “You made my favorite. You really went all out didn’t you?”
“Well I thought this day was worth making special.”
“And here I thought you hated Valentine’s Day.”
“Like I told you before, I don’t hate it, I just never saw the point of it.”
She raised an eyebrow at him, “But you do now?”
“Not exactly, but I am starting to see where everyone is coming from.”
Eponine chuckled, “And Apollo has been proven wrong yet again!”
“Again?” He asked in confusion
“Well there was that time when we were discussing whether or not-”
“We are not discussing that!” Enjolras blurted
Eponine smiled wickedly in triumph.
“Get that look off your face!”
“You love this look and you know it!”
“I love you.” Enjolras stated, “I have for awhile.” He gulped and discreetly reached into his pocket, knowing the moment had come. He knew it was time to ask Eponine the question that could make him the happiest man on Earth. “And due to that I wanted to ask you something.”
Eponine cocked her head, “What is it?”
Enjolras licked his lips, “Well you see Eponine, you have made a very lucky man this past year and I-”
A knock at the door interrupted him. Enjolras froze in place, his words cut off mid sentence- whoever it was at the door was about to meet their death if he had anything to say about it. Taking his hand out of his pocket Enjolras grunted a quick apology and jolted up from his seat. He made his way to the door only to see Grantaire, Bahorel, Jehan, and Courfeyrac waiting on the other side.
“Hey Enjy!” shouted Grantaire loudly
Enjolras stared at them in shock, his anger boiling within him, “What the hell are you guys doing here!?”
“Bahorel and Grantaire got us kicked out of every bar within a 5 mile radius from here.”
“I wasn’t just going to let that creep of a man disrespect the bartender like that.”
“I’m sure she would have been fine without you punching that man and throwing a drink at his face.” Commented Courfeyrac bitterly
“Hey she gave me her number either way, I consider that a win.”
“Meanwhile, wine-cask over here got overly drunk and started dancing on the table tops at the other bar.” Added Jehan
“I have no regrets!” belted Grantaire
Enjolras pinched the bridge of his nose, “Remind me again why I am friends with you guys?”
“Because you love us and we love you!” Teased Courfeyrac Enjolras scoffed, “Does no one understand the concept of a rhetorical question anymore?”
“Enjolras!” called Eponine from the dining room, “Who is at the door?”
Enjolras pursed his lips in an attempt to contain his anger. “Just the idiots we call friends.”
“Really!?” she squealed, sprouting up from the table and running over, “Hi guys!”
“Hey Ep!” waved Courfeyrac
“Would you mind telling Enjolras to let us in?”
“What?! Of course you can come in!” She insisted, pushing Enjolras out of the way, “Come in, come in!”
Enjolras watched helplessly as some of his friends barged into his house, effectively ruining his plans. All he wanted was a romantic evening with Eponine, an intimate night to ask her to spend her life with him. He certainly couldn’t do that now that everyone was there ruining the mood. As Eponine and their friends took seats around the living room he had to restrain himself from sending death glares at them all. He just had to make it through them, as soon as they all left the plan would be back in action. He could do it, he just had to keep his cool.
“And then I said, ‘Run! Run away from crazy snake man!’” Grantaire blurted out.
Enjolras missed half the conversation that went along with the punch line, but he could tell no one else had. Eponine in particular starting laughing hysterically, she found Grantaire’s story hilarious as she sat there in the arm chair. She was laughing so hard she started to pee a bit, which was nothing unusual- her bladder was not as strong as it used to be- what was unusual was her inability to stop peeing. Even as Eponine’s laughter died down, the moisture coming out of her legs wasn’t.
“Hey Ep?” asked Bahorel, “Is it normal to pee that much?”
“You ok?” added Jehan.
As soon as Eponine realized what was happening her eyes widen and she stared down at her pants.
“Enj!!” She yelped, her voice quivering, “I think my water broke.”
Automatically Enjolras was on his feet. “What?!?!”
“My water broke! It’s time!”
In an instant Enjolras was pulling on his coat yelling orders at the rest of the boys. It was time, the baby was coming and there was no stopping him- or her, the two of them had decided against knowing the sex of the baby until they actual birth, life had to have some surprise to it.
The next hour was a blur as Enjolras drove Eponine to the hospital at lightening speed. Before they knew it the two of them had arrived at the hospital, right after Eponine started to have contractions. Enjolras set Eponine down in a wheelchair, hurrying her through the hospital corridor. Luckily for them both Combeferre and Joly were on duty at that time.
It was Combeferre who reached them first, “Is it finally time?”
Enjolras nodded in excitement, “Our baby is coming! Our baby is really coming Ferre! I’m going to be a dad!”
Combeferre smiled, “I’m happy for you buddy.”
“Thank you.” Enjolras said, returning the smile.
What should have been a tender moment between friends was interrupted by Eponine snapping at them, “As much as I would hate to intrude on you two sharing makeup tips I feel like I should remind you that I’m kind of HAVING A BABY HERE!!”
“Oh right!” exclaimed Combeferre before taking control of her wheelchair, “Let’s get you to the delivery room.”
“So soon?” Enjolras questioned
“I will have to check if she is dilated enough first but-”
“Whoa whoa whoa! Wait!” Eponine exclaimed, “You are going to deliver my baby?!”
Combeferre shrugged, “Well I am the doctor on call-”
“No!” Eponine hissed a deep breath in pain, “No, no, no! Not a chance!”
“What?! Why not?!” Combeferre asked in confusion
Eponine looked up at him, “I know you too well to give you access ‘down there’!” She explained, “Only Enjolras gets to put his head anywhere near there!”
Both boys turned bright red at her outburst, the tension so thick you could cut it with a knife. They attempted to look at each other but found it impossible to hold eye contact for more than a second.
Finally Combeferre was able to compose himself, “Well someone has to deliver your baby Ep. If not me then-”
“I don’t care as long as I don’t know them!” She snapped, “I want to have some dignity left after all this.”
Enjolras gulped and Combeferre nodded in response, “As you wish.”
“Thank you-Ah!”
Enjolras jumped, “Are you ok?”
Eponine nodded as she breathed through the pain, “Yea, its just a bad contraction.”
Combeferre cut in, “How often are they?”
“They are about 10 minutes apart.” She answered flawlessly
Combeferre nodded, “We should be delivering shortly then, and I’ll be sure to get you a different doctor.”
Enjolras cleared his throat, “That is much appreciated.”
Combeferre smiled at them both and nodded fondly before scurrying down the hall. Eponine was having her baby and everyone was ready to act.
“I can’t believe I am actually in labor!” Eponine squealed
Enjolras leaned down and kissed his girlfriend’s head, “we are almost there ‘Ponine, we are almost there.”
Two hours later all the love Eponine had for Enjolras was masked by her anger due to her labor pains.
She glared up at him, fury in her eyes, snarling. “You did this to me!”
Enjolras grimaced, “‘Ponine I’m sorry! I-”
“I don’t want to hear it- AH!” She yelped as she felt another contraction
“It’s ok honey.” Called the doctor from where she was sitting, “Just relax and keep pushing.”
Eponine nodded and grunted as she tried to follow the doctors orders. She gripped Enjolras hand tightly in an attempt to deal with the pain she was feeling. All the time she wondered why women put themselves through his every time they had a baby.
“Push Ep! Push!” called Enjolras
“Don’t rush me!” She snapped, “This is easier said then done!”
As excited as she was to have a baby, and she was excited, the only thought on her mind at the moment was just getting him or her out. She had never expected that this would be the way she spent Valentine’s Day with her boyfriend, especially since she was not due for another two weeks.
“I can start to see the head!” Called Doctor Payan, “Just a few more pushes.”
“Come on baby!” chanted Enjolras, “You can do this. You can do it. Just push.”
Eponine gritted her teeth as she pushed as hard as she could, pushing will all her might to make the baby come out. With one final thrust Eponine felt something slip out and let out a sigh of relief as Enjolras leaned down and kissed her head lovingly.
The sound of a beautiful baby cry filled the ever busy delivery room, making Eponine and Enjolras smile widely. Their baby was right there in front of them, a human made out of them, a part of them as much as they were a part of it.
“Congratulations,” Smiled Dr. Payan as she brought the baby over to them, “You have a it’s a baby girl.”
Eponine took her new daughter in her arms and she looked down at her with tears in her eyes, “Hey baby,” she said, her voice quivering happily, “It’s me your mama, and this is your papa.”
“She’s beautiful.” muttered Enjolras, “She’s really beautiful.”
“Of course she is, she’s ours.” Eponine whispered happily, “I love you, both of you.”
Enjolras grinned widely from ear to ear, “I do too. So much.”
**********
Once again Enjolras found himself pacing, twice in the same day- it was a new record. Eponine was sleeping soundly in the hospital bed as Diana, their new daughter, sleep in the crib nearby. Both of his girls looked so peaceful in their sleep, so carefree and happy. The only noise in the otherwise quiet room was the sound of them breathing in sync. It was in the silence that Enjolras started to think. With the crazy day they had he had completely forgotten about the little box in his pant pocket. He knew he wanted to be with Eponine more than anything, that much was certain, what he wasn’t sure of was when to ask her.
“You know you are going to give yourself worry lines.” Eponine teased, her voice cutting into the silent night.
Enjolras turned his head to see her, eyes still closed, lying on the hospital bed. “Since when has that ever stopped me from worrying?”
Eponine rolled over and sat up, “You know when you are right you are right.”
Enjolras chuckled as he walked over to lie next to her, “How are you feeling?”
“Incredible.” She admitted as she turned her head to look at her daughter, “I feel incredible.”
“I’m glad to hear that.” He said, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
Eponine snuggled up at his side, “So what were you worrying about?”
Enjolras stiffened, “What are you talking-”
“Don’t deny it Enjolras,” she cut in, “I know you were worrying over something. You were pacing and running your hands through your hair. You forget I know you really well.”
Enjolras let out a deep sigh, “Well I guess that makes sense after having a child together.”
“Exactly!” She chirped quietly, trying not to make up their sleeping baby, “So what’s been on your mind?”
Enjolras paused for a moment, hesitation filling his every nerve. However he knew Eponine was smart, and after the day she had she deserved to know the truth.
“Well you see, all day I’ve wanted to ask you something, but with our friends interrupting us at dinner and you going into labor I never had the chance.”
“What did you want to ask me?” She asked anxiously
“Do you really want to know?”
“Yes!” She whispered loudly, shooting him a glare
Enjolras’ lips turned up to a smirk before he got up to kneel by the bedside and taking Eponine’s hand in one of his, the other reaching down into his pocket. “Eponine, you are the most intersting woman I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. In the few years I have known you, you have made quite an impression on me. You make me want to pull my hair out and kiss you at the same time, there is never a dull moment when I am with you. You are an amazing friend, girlfriend, companion, and I know you will make a wonderful mother. Being with you makes me happier and better than I have ever been. I love you more than I have ever loved anyone.”
Eponine gasped as she saw Enjolras take a small box out of his pocket
“Eponine, will you marry me?”
Eponine’s eyes widen as they landed on the ring centered in the small velvet box.
“Well it’s about time!” She blurted, “Five years of knowing you, two yearsof dating, and a baby, then you finally ask. I was beginning to think you never would.”
Enjolras chuckled lightheartedly, “Well forgive me for taking so long, but you know how I am with timing.”
“Oh don’t I ever!” She teased, kissing his nose
“So what is your answer ‘Ponine? Will you marry me?”
“Yes….” She whispered, “Yes of course I will! I love you so much Enj! You don’t have to ask me twice.”
Enjolras get out a sigh of relief and gently placed the ring onto Eponine’s left ring finger. As soon as the ring was on Enjolras cradled Eponine’s face and kissed her passionately, the spirit of Valentine’s Day filling them both until Enjolras was lying next to her with his arms around her small body.
“Hey Enjolras?” She said between kisses
“Yea?”
“Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Enjolras smiled lovingly and brushed her hair back, “Happy Valentine’s day love.”

Update soon...
laptop out and fingers ready
if anyone still cares, I am working on the last chapter (chapter 60) of West End High (enjonine I started in Dec of 2012) and it will be posted in a few hours... here I go
Last minute dead people party make up I did this in less than an hour with cheap dollar store face paint make-up. This was also my first time ever doing make up like this I think it turned out ok
