You know what's kinda funny? Groups like Amazon and Netflix going "HEY! WE NEED TO MAKE THIS EASIER TO PICK UP IN THE MIDDLE SO FOLKS CAN JUST BINGE WATCH IT IN THE BACKGROUND ALL THE TIME!"
But the thing is, we had that, we had that in the form of incredibly long run (like 24-48+ episode seasons) of television shows, where you didn't know if folks were picking it up in the middle or not, so any 'plot' tended to be pearl strung across a background or only across 2-3 episode arcs. But they got rid of these because it meant that they had to pay union rates to actors, writers, and directors, instead truncating stuff enormously. They got rid of filler episodes with character development and background details because they wanted to have short, engaging, single sitting long running things.
They want to insert advertising into everything, but we found that sweet spot too, with daytime television, and instead they just cram the fucking things interupting the middle of any given show instead of putting them into natural breaks. But they got rid of these because they beat out cable and network television by not having advertisements at all, and now they're all super fucking exclusive and focused so even the adverts are boring as fuck rather than hiliarious little things like we had in the 90s.
Techbros are the worst kind of capitalist because they never pay attention to shit that happened before so they waste so much fucking money reinventing the goddamn wheel and forcing the rest of us to sit through it, then acting offended when we mock them for it.
I don’t think Teen Titans 03 is as good as people to like to remember it. In fact, I find the lack of meaningful character development and episodic format incredibly annoying.
TellTale Games Idea
Knowing that at E3, Telltale Games has a couple new games out, I wonder how some of the Whovians would think if they did a game based around Doctor Who? It would be like each episode would be dedicated to a random one of the Doctors and their partners (so you could start with Jon Pertwee's Doctor in one episode and then Matt Smith's the next, for example). And your choices determine how your allies and enemies react to you (so you could be as cheery and good-natured as Tennant at his best, or as much of a cold-hearted asshole as the average Dalek). Just a thought.
Heavy Rain Recut As A 165-Minute Movie
Have you played Heavy Rain? Oh, well, do you want to know what happens anyways? No, no, I won't tell you; I'll show you, albeit over the course of 165 minutes. But hey, that's saving you over 500 minutes had you played it the old fashioned way!
This fan film comes from René Jacob who says he spent 120 hours over the course of four months splicing together the cutscenes from Heavy Rain. Being that Heavy Rain is, after all, a game, Jacob had to sparingly—if at all—use gameplay and relied more on weaving together the cutscenes into something more compelling as a feature-length film.
Jacob states he had to cut around plot holes in the story (though that wasn't always possible) and really focus in on Ethan's plot since, for the unaware, Heavy Rain actually centers around multiple main characters within an overarching story. This means he had to cut out most of the game's prologue and interject those scenes as "memories" later on.
You can also view the movie in its original episodic format at Jacob's YouTube channel if that's more to your liking. Warning: either way you watch it, you will be sad. It's not much of a stretch to say Heavy Rain is a downer.
