And here come the prison wardens.

In Sang is trying to introduce Bom and their baby to his parents, but he can’t even get the words out, nor look at them and he’s stammering and stumbling over his words, while his parents probably feel like the roof is caving in on them.

Ahaha I love everyone’s expressions here and the fact that the employees are seeing everything (and that we get to see their faces too).

Bom steps in after In Sang’s father snaps at him to explain it clearly, but this train is not stopping anytime soon and she gets contractions and goes into labour.

Mom has a breakdown and has to be carried away by her secretary while Father is panicking but already starts thinking of ways to “manage” this crisis.

The Mother gets fucking earplugs, so she can pretend what’s happening (on her bed) isn’t actually happening and the father SENDS AWAY THE EMTS!!! So he can keep a lid on this piece of news. If nothing else, this is the first inkling that he’s a giant piece of shit, bc wtf. Now Bom has to deal with CHILDBIRTH in a place that’s a) unfamiliar to her and b) she has only In Sang with her who she knows, but he doesn’t know anything about childbirth either.

Thankfully Bom is basically made of titanium mentally, and is like “Go look up homebirth online and check all these things I researched while I was pregnant” to In Sang’s little sister, while one of their maids who’s had some experience with raising children (but not birthing them) is assisting her.

The parents go into crisis mode, well the Father tries to approach it as a legal problem that just can be solved like that. 

Meanwhile in the birthing chamber In Sang tries to comfort Bom ... mostly ineffectually hahaha.

And in a scene that could have come straight out of a period drama, the secretary is sent off to announce to the household to shut their traps.

Look at how fucking ridiculous that house is. It must be a nightmare to clean.

Father is not ready to be congratulated on becoming a grandpa. 

The parents are not complete monsters, and have doctors come check up on Bom after the birth, but they also had to have a doctor come and give the mother an infusion, bc the shock was ~too much. (Also i need to find a gif of the secretary basically rolling her eyes in disgust when the first thing the father does is get one of the doctors to perform a paternity test...).

They haven’t even checked in on the baby! 

Seo Bom’s family meanwhile is so cozy and delighted to hear that they have a grandson and that Bom is alright and they coo over the baby pictures. (They should, the baby is very cute).

And here we see more evidence of the employees having a much stronger bond than we usually see in shows like this and Mother has another breakdown, but because this show doesn’t let us wallow in their pain, the jazzy tune starts playing again. And the more I rewatch this the more the parents being colossal jerks and being unable to deal with this like humans makes me laugh, because the show shows us how ridiculous they are.

Dad keeps gripping this sword like it’s a magic wand and if he just waves it around enough everyone is going to behave like the obedient rational robots he wants them to be. 

But then he turns on rich asshole mode, and what the teacher prophesied last episode comes to pass. He basically kidnaps his son and imprisons him at another apartment with a college tutor, separates mother and child, with the child being taken care of by a nanny (which he basically swipes from one of his law firm colleagues) and they can just ignore all of this until the paternity test comes back.

Bom is unsure as to what to do and doesnt have a phone at the moment (thanks to the Han River escapade I think), so when she tries to go to her baby when she hears him cry, Mother comes to intercept. Mother, who by the way was looking up potential daughter in-laws in a fucking catalogue. Rich people are insane.

When Bom, who is quiet, but clearly very astute points out that what they’re doing is punishing her, Mother tries to gaslight her. 

But Bom doesn’t give in and the thin veneer of “”well meaning”” kindness cracks, when Bom mentions that she never thought badly of In Sang, for the sake of her baby too.

But thankfully this show never misses an opportunity to make the parents look ridiculous, because secretary arrives as soon as Mother starts to curse out Bom
