Phantasmal poison dart frogs (Epipedobates anthonyi) are South American dendrobates that live on forest floors. Males will guard egg clutches laid in leaf litter, and when the tadpoles hatch he will transport them on his back to pools of water.

Epipedobates tricolor, the Phantasmal Poison Frog this morning in the #FuquaConservatory. Tricolors are the most conspicuous frogs in the Conservatory and they are particularly active in the mornings when the plants have been heavily watered. Only 15 of these frogs were released into the Conservatory in the mid 90's ... Another 15 a few years later and now there are hundreds. They have colonized every room in the building. #Epipedobates #Epipedobatestricolor #PoisonFrog #Dendrobatidae #FreeRangeFrogs #FrogInfestation
