September 1st || Trades Anniversary
Meeting Hades had been the best thing to happen to her in her entire life. He was her ever constant love, and if it were at all possible – she felt as if she had loved him from the moment they met. Sure, there were things standing in their way, and rules that were bent in order for them to fully experience each other, but their obvious attraction, their chemistry, their bond would withstand it all. He was a compliment to her in every way. He was her beacon of hope, her anchor, her confident in every sense of the word. Trish couldn’t possibly quantify exactly how much she loved him because the number itself would break the scales. They were fated for each other. She was his queen, his Goddess. They were already in love before their minds caught up with their souls intertwining. It was perfection, exactly as they were for each other. From then on, it was their story in the making.
And now here they were, a year into marriage and she was elated. It was the first year of the beginnings of their lives as husband and wife. And that year had gone so well for them. They had a new home, a new city to claim as their own. He was working his dream job and she finally had a gallery show of her own in the making. It was as if their union had just put everything into the perfect place.
With him as her very own, the smile would never leave her face.
Trish stood in the middle of the studio she’d been renting out, staring forward at the large picture windows. The sun was setting; the canvases around the room were lit with bright gold hues as well as the overhead lighting. In a way, it made the art on them look better and she mentally tucked that concept away in the back of her mind. She’d remember that for when it was time for her show. It was still a time away, but now she was offering Hades a bit of a preview. He’d seen her working on maybe a piece here or there but he’d never truly seen the big picture of the collection. It was coming together in a way she could be proud of, and she found it quite lucky that it had clicked so close to their anniversary. What better way to start their evening then something so close to her heart?
And hopefully to his surprise, something close to his as well. He was her inspiration after all.
None of the images on the canvases were strictly referential; she didn’t paint any obvious portraits. But when you looked around at them as a whole collection, you could see a theme. Almost like glimpses into a dream, into memories depicted in bright colors. He’d know after looking around the room exactly what had inspired her. Their life together, the happiness she felt with him. The bright hues of a Hawaiian sunset cascading over one canvas, the soft blues of Greece in another. There were no actual locations, but the emotions were clear. She’d never been more connected to a group of paintings before, let alone a collection. When she heard him come in, she greeted him with a long and passionate kiss, wishing him a happy anniversary without actually saying the words. There’d be a nice dinner where they could talk, right now she wanted him to just look without her giving any unintentional prompts. She wanted to see his unaided reaction. Pulling back from the kiss, she pressed her index finger against his lips to keep him quiet before tugging him further into the room. Her hand remained holding his as she showed him her work.
Their dinner was outside on the balcony of a beautiful restaurant and by some luck, which she guessed George might have had something to do with; they had the patio to themselves. After they had their fill of dinner, Trish took her wine glass and pulled Hades over to the railing to look out over the town. It wasn’t often that they got to have a night like this, away from obligations of pets and home – a night just for them. Sure, they did spend a lot of time together, but getting dressed up to go out always added a little extra to the occasion. She leaned against the stone railing and pulled Hades close for a gentle kiss before pulling back only a bit to glance up at him. Her eyes reflected the glittering lights on the balcony and she smiled lovingly, “I love you, Hades Aidoneus. I loved you for everyday before we married, every day after and I will love you for every day until the stars go out.”
