One Friday night, early into lockdown, I sat in front of my keyboard and enjoyed the freedom to improvise and compose.
I recorded whatever came up. A year later I listened through the recordings and decided to refine this particular track. The simplicity and ease of the music made me think of a peaceful wintertime.
The piano version was first, after which I wondered how it would sound with a harp. I am so grateful to Katrin Romanova that it worked!

Coram Deo is a Latin phrase translated "in the presence of God" from Christian theology
which summarizes the idea of Christians living in the presence of, under the authority of,
and to the honor and glory of God.
The name Immanuel translates to "God is with us".
It originates from the Hebrew language, combining Immanu (with us) and El (God).
Afrikaans:
Vers 1
Almagtige Skepper
U is hier teenwoordig
Coram Deo, Immanuel
Vers 2
Verlosser en Redder
U is hier teenwoordig
Coram Deo, Immanuel
Vers 3
Vertrooster en Leidsman
U is hier teenwoordig
Coram Deo, Immanuel

Psalm 117 isΒ the shortest psalm in the Bible, consisting of only two verses and it is not associated with any particular author in the biblical text.
It occupies the exact middle position when counting chapters from the beginning and the end of the Bible.
It's also the shortest chapter in the entire Bible, further emphasizing its unique position.
In essence, Psalm 117 is a concise and powerful declaration of God's enduring love and faithfulness.
It calls on all nations to praise the Lord and acknowledge His greatness.
The psalm's message of praise from all nations is echoed and fulfilled in the New Testament, particularly in the Book of Romans where Paul uses it to illustrate the inclusion of Gentiles in God's plan of salvation.
The words were adapted by Tinus Badenhorst to a melody that he composed.
He decided to use 3 languages that, from a linear perspective, progress from old to new: Latin, English and Afrikaans.
Although some of the melody ideas came through around the year 2009, the first structured version of the ideas started in September 2015.
Recordings began in 2016 and in July 2016 they were edited with creative input and mixed and mastered by Mauritz Lotz and in January 2017 it was released on all music platforms.
To invoke joyful and exuberant movement, a catching dance rhythm was merged with the melody, with the bass line idea inspired by the bass line of "Ain't No Sunshine" from Bill Withers.
Exultate Deo,
Omnes gentes laude Domine!
Veritas, amore -
sempiternum, ingentem!
Exultate Deo,
Omnes gentes laude Domine!
Veritas, amore -
Amen! Amen!
