If the Ents knew about data centers they'd be attacking them a-la-Isengard
keep on seeing people post stuff about being 'moots' and every time i always immediately think of trees/tree creatures; something like ents.
me (seeing post mentioning 'moots'): oh? sure! why not? i'll be your fellow tree standing slightly closer to you than the other trees in a heavily wooded forest, and we can whisper secrets to each other with the wind as our messenger.
me: .... wait a second...
me: fuck.
me: you meant mutuals.
me (disappointed): not what i originally envisioned but okay, i guess.
Ents and Ent-wifes
Physical description of Ents:Â
“The Ents were as different from one another as trees from trees: some as different as one tree is from another of the same name but quite different growth and history; and some as different as one tree-kind from another, as birch from beech, oak from fir…there were tall strong Ents, clean-limbed and smooth-skinned like forest-trees in their prime; but there were no young Ents, no saplings.” (3:4:480)
“Some recalled the chestnut: brown-skinned Ents with large splayfingered hands, and short thick legs. Some recalled the ash: tall straight grey Ents with many-fingered hands and long legs; some the fir (the tallest Ents), and others the birch, the rowan, and the linden.” (3:4:480)Â
Physical description of Entwives:Â
“For the Entwives were bent and browned by their labour; their hair parched by the sun to the hue of ripe corn and their cheeks like red apples. Yet their eyes were still the eyes of our own people.” (3:4:476)Â
History:Â
Ents are the Shepherds of the Trees. Elves taught them how to speak, and after the Great Darkness came they hid and the Ents were alone in the Mountains of Lune.Â
There used to be Ent-wives before they all disappeared. The Entwives desired order, plenty, and peace compared to the Ents who wanted to go out and explore and meet and speak to others. Once the Entwives made gardens the Ents hardly visited them, and after the Great Darkness and settling again, the Ents rarely saw them. When the Ents came back to visit, all the Entwives were gone. While the Ents searched for them, they have never been seen again.Â
“We believe that we may meet again in a time to come, and perhaps we shall find somewhere a land where we can live together and both be content.”Â
(3:4:476)Â
About:Â
“And yet again Ents are more like Men, more changeable then Elves are, and quicker at taking the colour of the outside, you might say. Or better than both: for they are steadier and keep their minds on things longer” (3:4:468)Â
Treebeard:Â
“They found that they were looking at the most extraordinary face. It belonged to a large Man-like, almost Troll-like, figure, at least fourteen feet high, very sturdy, with a tall head, and hardly any neck….At any rate the arms, at a short distance from the trunk, were not wrinkled, but covered with a brown smooth skin” (3:4:463)Â
Had an Entwife named Fimbrethil
Eldest living being of Middle-earth

Ah man, I forgot how much I love the Ents.
“We must not be hasty.” --Treebeard in The Two Towers
Everyone loves Ents.
Slow, ancient, massive and calm - until the moment the forest decides to march to war.
