My name is Shontal Prince. I am in love with music and creativity. I decided to start singing at the age of 7 and writing songs at the age of 9. Aspiring to be a songwriter, I began analyzing collections of work from the various musical artists of my time, such as Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Sia, Eminem, Destiny's Child, and much more. During the search for my sound, I managed to write genres such as RnB Pop, Christian Contemporary, Neo-soul, Hip-Hop, and mixed genres.
After enrolling into Five Towns College, I was introduced to the professional world of jazz-commercial music. This included musical theory, history, business, organized ensembles, performance repertoire, and much more. I went into that school as a raw talent and came out a true aspiring songwriter with hopes of opening her very own publishing company and becoming a respected musician. I successfully earned my Bachelors of Science in Jazz Commercial Music: Music Business.
Since graduation, I managed to successfully get a handful of my songs placed on an original stage play called Performing Arts Politics, written by Pablo Malco, and debuted at Broward Center Performing Arts Center. I was honored to work with such an amazing cast and stage production team. Many well-respected figures played key roles in the running of this show and earning their respect made me even more optimistic.
I decided to enroll into Full Sail University for my Entertainment Business Masters of Science in efforts to broaden my knowledge of this industry. I am currently working as a private vocal teacher and I have been inspired to expand my dreams into opening a small affordable music school. I found that many of my students were attached to me as a teacher and would prefer to stay under my overseeing direction. While my specialty is jazz voice, I want to be able to provide them a variety of tools and outlets to grow their talents. This includes other musical sections such as instrument, theory, dance, theater and art. This would not only create opportunities for my students but for my peers as well.
On this platform, you will be able to follow my journey throughout the course of my studies at Full Sail. I intend to grasp concepts regarding mastering my crafts, self-discipline, time-management, and much more. I hope it can inspire you to chase your dreams and never give up learning!
