Malibu Rising My top book this summer for sure!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Once again, ANOTHER MASTERPEICE! Holy crap like... WHAT!!!!! If anyone hasn't had the pleasure of reading this one this summer, IT'S NOT TO LATE! This book is fucking glorious. It follows Four Reiva siblings, Nina, Jay, Hud and Kit and their small family on the beach of Malibu California. A coming of age story, real life problems that hit hard, and brutal honesty and reflection. This book rocked my world. Like... UHHHH It lives in my head rent free. For those who need a good dose of the beach and family life, this may or not be the book for you. Each siblings story is mixed into one big story that all falls apart and fixes in the spam of 384 pages. Nina is a girl given the responsibility of taking care of her siblings after their dad leaves and mom passes away. She loves surfing and ends up doing modeling and works at the family seafood restaurant. Every year they throw a big party at the beach house thats by word of mouth invitation. Jay is a professional surfer who wants to be more in life, Hud is his twin who is also a surfer but photographer and Kit is the youngest a junior in college, wanting to be a professional surfer and doesn’t know what she wants really.
The story is a series of ups and downs as they all prepare for this party as well as shed some light on their backstory. As it gets closer and closer to the party, more shenanigans and issues come up until everything explodes almost breaking apart the family at the mega summer party. I won’t spoil it for you, but make sure you have tissues nearby. I can’t get over this book and will officially be my summer re read from here on out. If you need a fun beach read or just want something to take your mind off your circumstances, PLEASE read this one. You will not regret it!
